I wrote a blog post on the Trinity in The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings. Though Eru Ilúvatar is the Godhead of the Tolkien mythos, I explored how Aragorn (the titular Return of the King), Gandalf (the Resurrected), and Bilbo/Frodo (what good can come from Hobbiton?) are all sacrificial, Messianic characters to a certain extent.
