Christian or Catholic?

This really isn’t that offensive since the problem is largely due to the actions/words of uncatechized Catholics who think that we aren’t Christians. You wouldn’t believe the number of Catholics I met since my coming to Catholicism (at least 75%) who believe that “Christian” refers to Protestants.

Has anyone ever been asked by a Protestant if your a Christian or a Catholic? My response would be “both”.

I would then pose the question “are you a Protestant or a Christian”?

Do they know where we got the bible from? Can they explain *1 Cor.11:26-30. *Perhaps asking (not arguing with)Protestants some challenging questions
that might have them see things differently.

If both drop one of their identifying names, and just say I’m Christian, then you know what the next question is going to be… What Church do you go to? You know It’s going to come out sooner or later…right? If one says they’re Catholic or Protestant upfront, it saves time and confusion, imo.

Very true… usually. I mean it is the only human nature to be inquisitive and asking “Oh and which Church?” is the next logical follow-up.

I’ve been asked this a lot. I then proceed to say “Holy Rosary” - and leave it at that.

They momentarily look confused as this isn’t one of the non-denominational churches they are use to…
Then after an awkward pause… they ask: “Ohhh… is that the Catholic church?”

when someone identifies themself as “Christian” with no qualification, unless I’m corrected by what they say, I automatically think they are a Protestant. Then the question is, what form of Protestantism are they.
