I don’t have the page #'s but I can tell you where everything comes from to my best knowledge:

Tomorrow, Saturday Jan 2, 2010, is the (obligatory) memorial of Saints Basil the Great and Gregory Nazianzen (the Theologian).

Morning Prayer: the Psalms and antiphons come from the day (Saturday of Week 1 of the Psalter). Everything else comes from the proper for the saints if available (prayer, antiphon for Benedictus). The other elements (hymn, intercessions, reading and responsory) come from the proper of seasons, for JANUARY SECOND. In my English edition it says “Monday” from Jan 2 to Epiphany, but that’s a mistranslation of the Latin, use that section because it should read “January 2nd” instead. (Notice it says “If this day occurs on a Sunday, the Te Deum is said…” well Mondays don’t occur on Sunday, but Jan 2nd could occur on a Sunday).

Just like in other memorials, instead of the proper of seasons you can take the other elements from the common of Pastors (more than one) or Doctors.

Evening prayer will be the First Vespers for Sunday, which is Epiphany here where I live (sigh, it’s transferred from the traditional day to the Sunday). So if that happens in Colombia too, pray everything from the Epiphany – it’s all proper.

If Epiphany is kept on Jan 6th in Colombia, then pray everything from the office called “Second Sunday after Christmas” found right after the office for January 1st. You can stay with the propers there in the Proper of Seasons, and it will direct you to where to get the hymn, the psalms (proper antiphons, with psalms mostly from Sunday Week II).

If you have questions you should private message me so I can respond in a timely way. Hope this helps.

Unfortunately the best site St Francis de Sales hasn’t posted anything for this year yet. The best I can suggest is Universalis. Their psalms and readings are non-standard because of copyright problems, and they have not yet included all the responsories yet, but they have the right references for psalms etc. I haven’t checked out tomorrow yet, but will use it.

Thank you both for your replies! They have been very helpful.

As for stfrancisdesales.com/prayer.php … I wrote an email to the webmaster, Ben Lichius, and he indicated that they will be updating the guides this week.

One other question … I am planning on having the 4-volume set sent down from Canada in January. Does the 4-volume also require a daily page guide or is it somehow built into the volumes?

None of them require a page guide, but it’s helpful as you learn. You do need an ordo that tells you what day it on the Church Calendar, and if you figure out the pages from the standard rules … that’s what the makes of the page guides do.

There is a St. Joseph guide for the 4-vol set … not expensive, so it’s probably a good idea as you get used to the new set.

…And if you find yourself without the guide and in need of it, St Francis de Sales likewise makes it available: stfrancisdesales.com/liturgy.php 😉
Presuming you will have the CBP editions – If you will have the DoSP editions, you will have to learn your way around

As a point of interest … I found this page which is comparable to Universalis:

divineoffice.org/

It has all of the readings for the day including the page numbers for both the 1 and 4-volume.
