Christian Prayer vs Shorter

So I’ve finally gotten around to learning how to use my Christian Prayer book that I bought about a year ago (I’ve been using the divineoffice.org app on my tablet) and after looking into it I’m wondering what Christian Prayer has over shorter Christian Prayer considering CP only has a very abbreviated midday prayer while SCP doesn’t have any.

Also would it be possible for a diocesan Priest to fulfill his obligation using CP?
