What are these people’s mission?

I believe them to be in error. Who are they monitoring and what are their effects?

Their former presidential candidate is sick in my opinion.

The Christian Science Monitor is a newspaper originally founded by Mary Baker Eddy, founder of the Church of Christ, Scientist. They “monitor” the world in the sense of covering news.

I have no idea what presidential candidate you’re referring to. I think you must be confusing this with something else, perhaps with a similar sounding name.

The Christian Science Monitor is a respected international journalistic publication. It is most certainly not in the same league with something like the Jehovah’s Witnesses’ “Watchtower.” And if you are thinking of Mitt Romney, he is Mormon, not Christian Science. Or were you thinking of someone else?

As you say, it is a highly respected and is a primary secular publication.

Back when it was a daily, each issue had a one-page religious article which you were free to read or not.

Perhaps you’re thinking of the Church of Scientology?

The Christian Science Monitor was founded by Mary Baker Eddy because she was sick of badly researched negative news stories about the Church she founded. Despite the name it has no affiliation with the church.

Even today it does try to present a very neutral point of view.
