Videos like these are just unexplainably sad… I saw a few minutes of it, and I already knew this guy was just spitting out misconceptions without the proper answers from Catholicism. All I heard was “but this was not in the word of God, Amen?”

I know there are a ton like this, and that we should not stress over things like this, but it just shows how badly people who are outside of the Church are taught about Catholicism.

Continue to Praise the word, my friends, because these misconceptions need to stop…

Thank you for your time.

I believe this is in the correct section.

Yes, it is sad. I did not watch the video. My exposure to such things has been through reading. I have not yet subjected myself to the internet versions.

Take heart.

Lies always rush to be shouted, but Truth bides God’s time. As the Church learns the language of the digital age, her message will spread far beyond these early attacks.

Fortunately some of the comments on that video are level-headed and a have surprising number of likes. 👍

Thanks for posting this I_am_learning.

It may act as a warning to others.

I thought Pastor Joshua Olivarez was grossly misinformed about
Catholicism. (Catholic Christianity–the fullness of Christianity).

It seems he is misinformed about a lot of things.

His incorrect focusing on the actual name of the Catholic Church reminds me of some of the (also misinformed) Iglesia ni Christo or Jehovah’s Witness followers.

Honestly, I couldn’t get through the whole video.

He would put forth a partial truth (or an outright error) and say; “Amen!”. I am thinking: “No Joshua. Not amen!”

The anti-Catholic schtick always has the same playbook.

“Mis-state Catholicism, attack the straw man. Be sure not to present ALL of what the Church that Jesus founded (the Catholic Church), and by all means do NOT present ALL aspects of what the Bible says about a given subject. After all, if you present ALL the verses, the teaching will reflect the Catholic teaching and contradict what I (the anti-Catholic) is saying!”

God bless.

Remember that Catholics are Christians, and the original Christians.

I’ve grown leery of people if they have “pastor” in front of their name and look like they’re in high school in casual clothes. More often than not they’re some Protestant Baptist ministry type guy. This is not to say all of are all "Ew, Catholicism … ", though.
