Hello there to all Christian Wiccans/Witches! I have a question for you. How can you possibly believe in both Christianity and Wicca or Witchcraft when the Bible clearly condemns witchcraft and divination and such?

(Leviticus 19:26 NAB-A) Do not eat meat with the blood still in it. Do not practice divination or soothsaying.

(Nahum 3:4 NAB-A) For the many debaucheries of the harlot, fair and charming, a mistress of witchcraft, Who enslaved nations with her harlotries, and peoples by her witchcraft:

(2 Kings 17:17 NAB-A) They immolated their sons and daughters by fire, practiced fortune-telling and divination, and sold themselves into evil doing in the LORD’S sight, provoking him
(2 Kings 17:18 NAB-A) till, in his great anger against Israel, the LORD put them away out of his sight. Only the tribe of Judah was left.

These are just a few of the verses in the Bible that condemn divination and Witchcraft. So I ask, how can you possibly consider yourself to be a Christian Witch or Wiccan? 🤷

I’m not a witch/wizard/sorcerer/magic-practitioner in any size, shape, or form, but I’d think that they’d say the Bible isn’t inerrant or entirely relevant. They also might say that the Bible meant non-Christian witches, was mistranslated, etc.

Um, I’ve never met or heard of a Christian Witch/Wiccan, (and my roommate was into Wicca for a long time). Wicca is a pagan religion, and generally very proud of that heritage. Who exactly is this proclamation for? 🤷

The Wiki page is a stub, but here’s what it says:
Christian Wicca is a syncretism of Christianity and Wicca which uses the organizational and festival framework of Wicca while professing belief in the teachings of Jesus.
You can Google more information on Christian witchery and/or Christian Wicca. I’m sure there’s some informative site out there for you. 🙂

The belief that oneself is somehow magical, mysterious, supernatural, smarter than mere mortals is nothing more than the ultimate ego trip. It’s an ego trip that “feels better” to worship the false god of self, rather than humble oneself to God and sacrifices for others.

It’s for Christian Witches and Wiccans. And yes, they do exist regardless of the fact that you have never heard of them.

I guess there’s no christian wiccans here :ehh:
I do know a catholic benedictine de’montfortian kemetic shemsu. :getholy: the more religions you have the holier you get, the more doctrines the more merit :highprayer: and so forth etc

How are you defining divination? Soothsaying? I know lots of Christians who love their steaks rare.

What’s the greater evil here? Immolation of children seems to be it.

To quote the dictionary for both:

div·i·na·tion *n.*1. The art or act of foretelling future events or revealing occult knowledge by means of augury or an alleged supernatural agency.
**2. ** An inspired guess or presentiment.
**3. ** Something that has been divined.

Definition number 1 fits here.

sooth·say·ing *n.*1. The art or practice of foretelling events.
**2. ** A prediction; a prophecy.

And again, definition number 1 fits best here as well.
What is the Hebrew for “witchcraft” here?
The Hebrew Word for witchcraft according to Strongs is the following:

H3785
כּשׁף
kesheph
keh’-shef
From H3784; magic: - sorcery, witchcraft.

And as you can see, it means sorcery or witchcraft so this is not an inaccurate translation.
What’s the greater evil here? Immolation of children seems to be it.
The Bible does not say which was worse. I would say that both were grave sins.

It’s for Christian Witches and Wiccans. And yes, they do exist regardless of the fact that you have never heard of them.
The term is an oxymoron.
They may claim to be Christian, and they may label themselves as such.
Nonetheless, one cannot be both.

Just for information’s sake . . .

I did a bit of research–they (or at least, the one woman who wrote a book about it) actually want to be called Trinitarian Wiccans. I get the feeling they don’t consider themselves Christians at all.

christianwicca.org/

She says: “We do not have conflicts with the Bible, because we work directly with the Gods and Goddesses; church dogma does not have a place in our ritual structure. Concepts such as the original sin, salvation, baptism, heaven, hell, and Satan are not conflicting topics for Trinitarians. They have no place in Wicca at all; as Trinitarian Wiccans, we do not differ in this belief.”

If they don’t believe in Sacred Scripture or baptism . . . I think anyone can safely say they aren’t Christians–over and above OT verses about divination/soothsaying.

Mainstream Wiccans think the whole idea is ridiculous:

So, under that definition, prophecies in the Bible, foretelling various events, would count as divination.

Again, prophecy would counter as soothsaying under this definition.

OK, so what did the ancient Hebrews specifically have in mind under the label “kesheph”?

I know there are people out there calling themselves Christians but practicing in covens. Or sacrificing goats…

You cannot serve two masters.

Dissension was put on the same level as witchcraft in the Epistles.

As a Wiccan, I believe one cannot really be a “Catholic-Wiccan” or “Christo-Pagan” because they are two fundamentally different belief systems with irreconcilable differences. We don’t have a body of dogma or canon law which formally bars Wiccans from such hybrid practices of course, but we find that such people don’t have a true understanding of either religion, or of themselves.

One of our biggest headaches is the influx of young people in recent years who are basically just poorly-formed Christians (often Catholics), who simply want to have a bit of rebellion and New-Age trappings. Being angy at parental rules or being enamored with Goth or emo clothing and pentagrams does not make one a Wiccan, any more than wearing a big gold cross makes one a Christian.

You cannot be a Christian and involved in Wicca. Wicca honors a false god.

HAHAHAHAHA wiccans make me laugh!!! THere religion is so wierd and all it does is feed there egos. Some do it to be different and some are just crazy.\

Repent and believe in the gospel becuase the Kingdom of God is at hand!!!

Peace and Good

I have some Wiccan friends. We have spoken about this before. I was surprised to learn there are those who identify themselves as “Wiccan” but also “Christian”. These particualar “Wiccans” use the figures of Jesus and Mary as their God and Goddess. Their alters are very similar to other Wiccan alters, except they have a figure of Jesus as the “God”/Divine Masculine /Father and Mary as the “Goddess”/Divine Feminine/Mother.

The myth of Isis/Osiris/Horus come into play as they identify the Divine Mother who became with Child from the God Osiris and gave birth to Horus…who in some way is also the God. In Celtic Wicca the Goddess gives birth to the God at the winter solstice. On Beltane (May Eve) the God and the Goddess mate in the Great Rite and She becomes pregnant with the God. On Samhain/All Hallow’s the God dies only to be reborn the next Winter Solstice…The God is the Goddess’ Husband/Son, who is born and dies each year…Instead of Herne or Cerwidden they use Jesus and Mary.

There is an icon from “Trinity Stores” called “Lord of the Dance”, which shows a “horned Christ figure”. My Wiccan friend has seen the alter with the Lord of the Dance and an icon of Guadalupe as the “god figures”. I’ve visited the site after being told about it here on CSF…evidently Robert Lantz is a popular icon writer among “Christian Wiccans”.

These "Christian Wiccans’ use prayers and “spells” from the Psalms. Some attracted to Wicca use their present Gods instead of adopting new ones…they use rosaries and prayer ropes…with the different candle colors…red candles for the “God” and blue candles for the “Goddess”…they use a communion chalice for the cup and a paten for the “pentacle” Evidently they use Catholic “sacramentals” such as holy water and blessed salt for their rites.

There are those Wiccans who use a statue of the Buddha for the “God” and Quan Yin for the “Goddess”

Wicca evidently is not unified on answering the question are there truly different Gods and Goddesses or to quote Dion Fortune “All Gods are One God, and all Goddesses are One Goddess.”

In the Secular News there is a discussion about the new worship circle at the Air Force Accadamy in Colorado and someone placing a cross at the worship site.

One poster mentioned “Pagan Quakers” and an article from Christianity Today about the trend among Friends to embrace Paganism…as I mentioned in my response while Quaker Paganism is a “nice idea” the ritual and rite aspect of Neo-pagansim is in conflict with Quaker practice in that we do not employ any “outward forms” of ritual…so my point was eventually the “pagan” aspect would swing back to “Christian overtones” as the Light Within is expressed among most Friends in Christian terms…all Quaker writings and devotional classics…which Friends use very often along with the scriptures employ very “Christian” terms and concepts…some Friends are concerned…but as a whole…“this too shall pass” as the Light is experienced among us collectivly in Meeting.

The term is an oxymoron.

I agree that the term is an oxymoron. But it exists as a term nonetheless regardless of how contradictory the term may be.

Pot, meet kettle.

That’s been my experience of people interested in the occult – they tend to be flakes more interested in making a fashion statement than they are in the truth.
