I am in the process of getting my son baptized. I have chosen two really great choices to help guide my son in his catholic upbringing. However, in the process it was discovered my chosen Godmother is not confirmed. She is however Catholic, baptized, and practicing. I understand according to Canon Law she can not be considered a Sponsor, but can she be considered a Christian witness. Is there anything I can do to have her be the Sponsor. She is enrolled in the confirmation classes at her church which take place in the fall. I really think my choice for Godmother is a perfect one and I hate to see her judge on a technicallity. Please help.

I’m going to venture a guess here and say that your pastor could ask the Bishop to allow her to be the Godmother since she qualifirs in every other way(?) ,and is planning to receive Confirmation in the fall. It would be up to the Bishop. A Christian Witness is a non-Catholic Baptized Christian, not a Catholic who does not qualify as a Godparent.

Or, you could write and ask the bishop, kmelick…
