It’s easier for many just to label the early Christians and Fathers with “apostasy” and move on, rather than saying "hey wait a minute… maybe we missed something."

That’s what a largish group of refugees from Campus Crusade and other parachurch ministries did–and they wound up becoming Orthodox.

Orthodox as in “Greek Orthodox” or “Byzantine Orthodox”?

I too get frustrated with these sorts of things. I read an article a couple of months ago about a Calvary Chapel in California that started having a “vespers” service, complete with subdued lighting and candles. What is up with that? I also have a frustrated chuckle when I hear non-liturgical Protestant churches use words like “sacraments”, without fully appreciating or agreeing with the true meaning of the word.
God Bless them for trying, but really, how many people are you going to attract long-term to your faux liturgies, when there are Orthodox churches just around the corner? Evangelicals are converting to Orthodoxy in droves. I should know, I did! And so did most of my friends, including my priest and most other priests I know!
I can also recall a CT article about the Didache, which was interesting, given the Protestant inclination towards Sola Scriptura. Talking about Tradition derived from the Didache seems almost heretical! 😛

My only thought about this - coming to the fullness of truth incrementally - is that at least they are starting to understand that what they have always thought to be the true expression of Christianity has come up lacking. They are beginning to feel in their core that they are missing something extremely important, a connectedness to the whole age of Christianity, they just can’t come to terms with the full truth of it yet. 🤷

But praise God!!! Baby steps forward are better than backward steps any day! 🙂 :gopray:

There are no online links to CRJ articles. You’d have to buy the periodical or borrow one from a library. Sorry. There is probably a Bible College or Evangelical seminary with a library near you which subscribes to the CRJ.
