Christians, are you will to be tortured to death for Jesus Christ or not?

Many of our Christian brothers and sisters died for our faith during the first 4 Centuries.

If we were all being force to denounced our faith, would you die for your faith?

Some of the Early Christians were crucified, cut in half, skin alive, burn at the stake, eaten by beasts, and this happen while they were still alive.

I think we all would love to say yes, but I also think that a number of people will understandably be hesitant, not so much doubting their own convction, but wondering how great the fear of death would be.

Truly, only an entire life of convinction can prepare oneself for that martyrdom. And so, more important to the point is the question, “Do you regularly and willingly engage in sin?” Otherwise, no one can really answer this question absoultely truthfully.

I hope that I could but I know myself and I’m very much afraid that fear of that type of death would be too much for me and I would deny Him. I can only hope amd pray that if it ever comes to that, He will give me the courage I would need.

Many of our brothers and sisters in Christ are still being killed or tortured to death for Christ. Look at what is happening in India, for example.

I apologized, I must have been tired when I wrote this. The question was meant to be written as, “are you willing to be tortured to death for Jesus Christ?”

I ask this because I know that in modern times, Christians are being persecuted in Middle East, India, and Muslim countries for their faith.

It is never an easy question; to die for our faith. Our brothers and sisters of the past died for their belief in Christ. Is it bravery? Perhaps. Is it religious fervor? Perhaps. Is it worth it? That’s the difficult part. Is it worth risking your life on earth and leave your family and loved ones behind for the sake of religion? As for me, if i saw the devil himself and he was the one torturing me to give up my faith in Christ, then i would rather die than submit to the lord of filth. If it was a mortal asking me to give up my faith for his sake, then i would leave the friendship behind. If it was a mortal torturing me to give up my faith or risk death, then yes, i would rather die. Why? I know He will take me in His arms when i die. That’s comforting enough for me. What about my loved ones? God will take care of them. Why? I trust in Him.
Psalm 71:1-6

This is not a rethorical question. At least I don’t take it as such. We are told that in the Last Days this WILL happen again. The only way a true Christian can with stand this is to be ready. Not lip service ready, but READY. And the only way to be ready is to be grounded in the WORD, Christ. He is our strength, we can do nothing with out him. The matyrs that were spoken of died happily, they had no fear for they knew that there was a better place being prepared for them. We too can have this reassurance, because Christ is the Rock on which we can build an unshakable faith.

Till Christ returns.

Manny, I think more telling would be to ask “Would you be willing to watch a loved one be tortured or killed?” Ultimately, most would say yes when it only involves themselves, but the picture changes when it involves their loved ones, especially when it comes to their children.

Love all

You know what, im more than happy to say i will, but when it comes to the crunch, i dont know if i would have the courage too.
There is nothing i would love to do in this world more than stand up for Jesus, no matter what anyone does for me, but im also a big chicken when it comes to pain, so i really dont know if i could go through with it.
He did it for me, i hope i do have the courage to do it for him.

You love him, he loves you, when it comes crunch time, he’ll give you the strength, you won’t need to rely on your own because he knows it isn’t sufficient enough, but his is. 👍

Yes i know, what gives me strength is when i read Max Kolbe’s strength and courage, what a saint he is!
Its people like him i admire and inspire to be like.
👍

Yes, I’d be willing to die for Christ because I know he exists. If I did not feel this, it would be different. I believe we are comforted once we reach that near death experience. Then our bodies die and our souls live with God. At the moment of death, He comforts us.

We have to be willing, right? So I just figure if it happens I’ll pray hard for the courage and self-control (and whatever comfort He sees fit to give me) that I would require to get through it. I hope and pray never to face such a choice, unless that is the best thing for my soul. Lord, have mercy on a big old chicken and help me.:gopray2:

Are we now nearing the end then?
Are the barbaric anti-Christians now among us… or you’re sending me to India?
Well, sure… what a heck… I was already saved from near death thrice…
For Him and for the Catholic Faith… I just hope I have this face when my time comes-😛 🙂 😃

**Manny, you’ve asked a good question.

As an Eastern Christian, I’m well aware of just what other Eastern Christians must endure every day in their homelands. If you like, I can provide several links here.

Frankly, I’m afraid to answer this question. Someone greater than I and of stronger faith made Our Lord promises that he was not able to keep. I’m certainly not anywhere NEAR his spiritual level.

(I’m trying to say more about my own weakness than his spiritual condition, please understand.)**

If we were all being force to denounced our faith, would you die for your faith?**

At a recent parish retreat, one of the members from Lebanon told about his uncle who was chased into his own home by Mahometans and forced to convert on the spot. He refused to renounce Jesus, and they beheaded him in his own home.

That’s terrible, but he is in heaven with God now and that is awesome! 👍

I said that I do not know. I would love to say yes, but I cannot honestly do that.

The reason that martyrdom leads to sainthood is more than the fact that they died for the faith. In order to be that bold, that brave, you are showing a HUGE amount of Courage from the Holy Spirit. Willing martyrdom is much like a miracle, as it is God’s power being manifest in the martyr.

Father Groschelle said that we should not be too hard on those that renounced and came back. They are the ones that preserved the faith. If everyone had been fed to the lions, who would have been left?

I think about this, and my prayer is I will call on Christ and His grace that I would die honorably

For me as a father, the more troubling situation is if someone were to threaten one of my children with death should I not recant.
