A friend and I were both on tracks to be teachers. We’ve been told, by current teachers, counselors, and family to get out of it. The school systems are not only failiing academically, but can be dangerous, for teachers and other students. We’re both on different career tracks now. At every step students studying to be teachers are encouraged to look into other careers, because the pay is horrible, the students are AMAZINGLY disrespectful, the situations can be physically dangerous, the respect from others is zilch…the list goes on.
The public school system is going down the tube so fast it seems it couldn’t last till 2010. Homeschooling and Private Schooling aren’t looking like such odd options anymore. As a friend said to me about her future children “I’d like to have my kids come home, you know, alive.”
