Hello all,

I pray to Mary, and to saints. I find a lot of help in them! I don’t understand God that well so I always ask Mary my mother to intervene for me.

However as of late other christians non-catholics make a fool out of me. They come with bible passages like Herbrews 4:16 and all that.

I don’t really know what to reply they see me as a fool anyway, or no as a sinner… For praying to saints and Mary. I love Mary!

Seem like you are someone that is very blessed.

Do you know that Mother Mary chose to appear to children with no education and some didn’t even know how to read.

Jesus chose Peter as his leader and he was a fisherman that also didn’t know how to read.

Feel at peace, worry more what God think of you then any human being. Pray for them though, it is your duty to always pray for the one that hurt you.

Pray, pray and pray.

I am sorry to hear it. I wouldn’t discuss it with them as they wouldn’t understand.

There are people who were called “fools for God”. Those with deep faith and devotion, who were rejected and ridiculed by the world. Maybe you are one of them

Do not be afraid. You do not have to engage in apologetics with fundamentalists. No need to look for Bible quotes that will challange their arguments. The Pharasees are always with us and will always try to supress us. They will always look for arguments to show how superior they are. They are wrong.

Pray and bless them.
God is great. God is merciful. God knows what is in your heart.

To answer them, tell them that if Christ saw fit to listen to his mother in life, he will surely do so after death 😛 Also, remind them that you are not praying -to- Mary in the same manner that you pray to God. You pray to Mary to ask her help and to ask her to add her prayers to your own; you pray to God to ask directly. In both cases the prayers will reach God, but when you pray through Mary you get the added bonus of having an extra prayer said for you as well.

It is fine that you pray to the saints.

Do you also pray to the Father?

This is key…For if you do not then your friends may have a point to make relative to the Hebrews verse.
If you DO pray to the Father - in Jesus name - then you can respond to your friends that you DO draw near to the throne in confidence and being near to the throne you find yourself in the company of Mary and the Saints…And so you talk to them as well as talking to the Father and to Christ.

How can they object to that???

Peace
James

When they get all intellectual and high and mighty, keep St. Paul’s words in mind:

1 Cor 1:17
For Christ did not send me to baptize but to preach the gospel, and not with the wisdom of human eloquence, so that the cross of Christ might not be emptied of its meaning.

Why don’t you seek out other Catholics who are the same as you and this will be a comfort to you. There are many out there and making friends with one or two may help them as well. It is good that you have made a friend with Mary and some of the saints. Continue with this relationship for you will be rewarded for this love you can receive from them.
