Christians, stop this beckering and put aside your difference, so we can be one faith!

I am fed up with the Christians beckering about authority, doctrines, etc. The fights between Catholics, Eastern Orthodoxy, and Protestants is STUPID and counter productive. I am done. I tell you why this Christian faith of ours is not UNITED! You all keep on arguing amongst yourself! This displeases me so much. I often check on news about unity concerning Christian unity, and our leaders HAVE BEEN working their time and offer their own sacrifices for a possible UNION with all Christian faith. WHILE YOU ALL continue to promote disunity.

Don’t you want to be one Christian Church like it was before the Schism of 1054? Come on, Christian unity begins with us and the posts here between all of us and reading disagreement after disagreement, sickens me. STOP IT!

When Non-Christians see our UNITY, they will ponder who JESUS CHRIST IS. Is he truly a God-Man, or a DECEIVER!

Any Christian here who continues to foster disunity, I will pray for your soul. I will offer the Divine Mercy Chaplet on your behalf. That way, your lukewarm heart will OPEN UP to God’s will, and NOT YOURS.

Christian Unity is the will of Jesus Christ, and everyday, you dishonor him by your STUPID ARGUMENTS!!
 
Of course I want unity, but we will not sacrifice everything we are to get it.

The question is, how do you define unity?

The same unity that both our leaders of both our Churches want. A unity that will bring a common understanding between Eastern Orthodox and Catholicism, without sacrificing any of their traditions, and customs, etc.

Unity must start with us. If you have not noticed the European Court have banned Crucfixes in public places. To fight secularism, both Eastern Orthodox leaders and Catholic leaders need to work together for a common good.

and it is not just EO and CC. But Protestants as well.

I trust our leaders to leaad us to unity. DO YOU?
 
Simple solution manny, the Pope should excommunicate all of the Orthodox and Protestants. If that doesn’t work, there is always the inquisition.

Execommunication are given to those who are Catholics. When execommunication is enacted, the Catholic who is excommunicated cannot received any of the sacraments.

Orthodox and Protestants are not united with the Bishop of Rome. The work I have seen between leaders from the Catholic-Orthodox Commission is continued dialogue and their desire to call for unity. So that Christ’s Church can ONE again so Jesus’ will can be done.

Don’t you want to make Jesus happy? I do! The angels will rejoice when Christians unit.

So by your definition, those poor souls not united with the Bishop of Rome are not in the church. If they are not in the church, they cannot be a part of the “dis-unity” you are trying to correct. Problem solved!
 
Amen!! Less bickering, more prayer for a united Body of Christ. I understand the need to point out differences in doctrine, but people seem to spend so much time arguing about things that are simply not essential for unity and salvation. Not to mention the constant re-arguing of the same old issues.

Jesus, help all of us to be one, as You and the Father are one.
 
I am Catholic and believe that the Catholic Church is the True Church and contains the fullness of Faith but this thread seems a bit arrogant.

You want unity, so do I, you want unity on your terms, I want it on the Church’s terms (those two may be the same thing), but you are telling others to forget what they believe when it is different from what you believe (and most likely what the Church Teaches).

I do not see this happening, people are not going to just stop believeing what they believe to have unity.

They might as well argue that we would have unity if we Catholics would drop all the dogmas that they do not believe in.

Would that sort of unity be acceptable to you? If not then how can you think that the reverse would be acceptable to them?

The EU Court overturned an Italian law saying there MUST be a crucifix in every classroom. Completely different than banning crucifixes from public places. Regardless, working together for a common good is different than being reconciled.

I want my leaders to work on pan-Orthodox unity before they get into eccumenism.
 
Seems to me peaceful co-existence should be tried first… you know, refraining from harsh words, turf-ism, worrying who is “right” according to whatever… we latins cannot even seem to be united with each other let alone with orthodox or non-Catholic and certainly not non-christian faiths. We are “liberal unfaithful,” “orthodox faithful,” and “moderate trying not to step on anyones toes and do anyway Roman Catholics.” At least from what I have seen. But, I have also seen cordial and open respect here. So there is hope. Best way to facilitate unity is to practice living like Jesus, which I guess includes challenging those that would divide through what you said above and I said above here… carry on…

In what terms to do you want unity? Do you still believe that the Catholic Church is the One True Church in which all Christians need to submit as final authority in what is true? I don’t think you can have your cake and eat it too. 🍰🤷
 
I agree with everything ByzCath wrote. Whatever happened to “do unto others as you would have them do unto you”? The ratio of sense to exclamation points and YELLING in this thread is astounding.
 
I don’t understand why we are bickering about who’s church is the right church. What church was here the longest. Who started the church. What the true church is. I don’t think God intended for us to bicker over this. His intent is for us to come to him no matter what church you beling to or how your church worships We all belong to the same God. Just because we worship him differently doesn’t make our God any less then your God.He’s the same God who loves us all the same but it seems that WE are the ones who can’t see this love that God has for us, if we did we wouldn’t be bickering like this. I see no where in the Bible that says only a certain religion is able to come to him. It says ALL WHO BELIEVE IN ME WILL HAVE ETERNAL LIFE. All doesn’t mean all of one religion, it means EVERYONE, YOU, ME, THE PERSON NEXT DOOR, EVERYONE IN THE WORLD WHO BELIEVES IN HIM. With all that is going on in the world, don’t you think we all, every Christian religion and person, need to come together as one in Christ not in one religion. God made us to praise him and to love one another but with all this bickering over who’s church is the true and only church, shows no love at all among his followers. We say we love one another but there is no proof of it among us Christians. It seems that we are hypocrites who pretend to love one another but our actions show different. We are all a part of God, lets act like it.

Okay, so for the sake of Christian unity, what source will determine truth to unite over?

Wow. It baffles me how someone can be both so indifferent and yet so passionate about that indifference, what with all the capital letters and whatnot. 🤷

You write as though “Non-Denominational” is not itself a denomination. That is not the case, so you too have made your choice. It is safe as milk and you want us all to join in your writhing mass of heresy and ridiculousness instead of sticking to our respective liturgies and traditions. I can’t see why anyone who is serious about their faith should do so. Communion is closed on the basis of doctrinal differences because such differences matter, because doctrine matters. To claim it doesn’t as many seem to be doing here is to spit in the face of the martyrs of the early church, the early church fathers, the councils, and really everything that makes Christian history and tradition important enough to continue the divisions that exist in world Christianity. Hundreds of thousands (millions?) have died in post-Chalcedonian conflicts, Muslim and other invasions, periods of Iconoclasm, etc. Are we going to say they died for nothing just because we want “unity”? No. Or at least I’m not going to. I’m eternally grateful to those who came before me who were willing to fight so that today we can worship Jesus, the Christ, the Risen Lord and Savior of all, and do so with visual imagery, with appropriate hymnody, and (most importantly) an appropriate understanding of what an absolutely precious gift we have that others may not have. I refuse to cheapen this treasure by sharing it with everyone who says “Lord, Lord”. The devil and his minions also recognize the power of God. Heck, Satan tempted Jesus in the desert, remember?

We may all be part of God, but is a little simplistic to leave it at that. Some, having been created by Him, nonetheless use the free will He is has given them to reject Him by choosing to worship something else, sometimes even under the guise of Christianity. I want no part of that, and I want my Church to affirm that we are to have no part of that.
