Are we obligated to receive the Eucharist on Christmas? does anyone know? what happens if a person could not make it to Confession in time?
I know that we are obligated to receive Communion once a year during the Easter season… (does this include any time before Pentecost?). But what about Christmas?

thanks!

No. 🙂

But certainly let anyone in such need --make it to confession --so they may be able to rejoice more in the Joy of Christmas!

Such is part of why he came …

No, you are not obliged. However it would be good. If one is in a state of Mortal sin, receiving the sacrament of Reconciliation should not be delayed. If the regular times for confession are not suitable, simply phone your priest and arrange a time to meet him, or approach him before or after a Mass.

If you are subject to the eastern canons then:

CCEO Canon 708
The local hierarchs and the pastors are to see that with every diligence the Christian faithful are instructed concerning the obligation of receiving the Divine Eucharist in danger of death and also at those times which are established by a most praiseworthy custom or by particular law of their own Church sui iuris, especially at Easter time, during which Christ handed down the eucharistic mystery.

CCEO Canon 881
§ 3 The Christian faithful are strongly recommended to receive the Divine Eucharist on these days [Sundays and Holy Days] and indeed more frequently, even daily.

If you are subject to the Latin canons then:

CIC Canon 920
§1. After being initiated into the Most Holy Eucharist, each of the faithful is obliged to receive holy communion at least once a year.
§2. This precept must be fulfilled during the Easter season unless it is fulfilled for a just cause at another time during the year.
