Do you have a favorite Christmas Recipe you want to share? Is there a story behind the food?

My husband is ga-ga over a Slovanian nut roll called Potica. Sadly, the kids are all allergic to nuts, so we are trying to alter this traditional European delight. As of yet, my SIL & I can’t find an alternate that pleases the parents.

Your post caught my eye.
My grandmother (german) made this under a different name.

I did a simple websearch. Just replace the honey walnut mix with any combination of spices and dried(rehydrated) fruit to the same consitency.

Katie, good detective work for the OP! Those cookies look delicious!!

My husband’s family always makes butter rolled cookies. They’re like sugar cookies, only much, much, MUCH more buttery. I personally don’t care for them, as they’re a bit too sweet for my tastes. But the kids have a blast decorating them every year!

Now for ME… Molasses Cookies! Or ginger cookes!! I have a ginger cookie recipe that has ginger THREE ways: fresh ginger, candied ginger, and powdered ginger. They have a bite to them, but they are so yummy! I’d share the recipe but it is at home and I am at work.

ooh, that sounds good. I love ginger. When hiking I carry a bag of almonds and candied ginger.
