For Christmas Eve we serve ravioli and sausage, salad, garlic bread and cheesecake (DH’s favorite). Our big meal on Christmas Day is brunch, which includes baked eggs, ham, baked pineapple, fruit, juice, mimosas, coffee and of course cookies. Later in the day we either make homemade pizza or we set out finger foods if we’re expecting guests.

Oh man, yes! I miss being in Texas where I could get real tamales. Heck, just drive to the Fiesta Mart and someone is usually selling them in the lot. I took with me the valuable skill of tamale making from Texas. Are you up to the task?.
Again NO one is askin me about MY Christmas recipes?? 😦
Do they involve recreating goodies out of Sonic or Taco Bell?

Bama, if it’s a buffet type meal, you get to bring the paper plates. Oh, and don’t get those flimsy kind either. Got to be Chinett or something similar.

Maybe some Hawaaian rolls too?

Y’all don’t trust me enough to bring sumptin to eat?? And then I gotta bring high dollar plates? I know how y’all are now. 😛

Nah, you can come to my place and not bring plates, just don’t touch my pots and pans:D

Dang, a guy messes up one time and y’all don’t want his recipes.

OK Guy. What are your scrumptious recipes for Christmas meals?

Something along the lines of “nuke the tacos you picked up night before last at Jack in the Box” or “Open 6 pkgs of Ramen Noodles…”

If it starts with “boil water in a pan”, I’m outta here.
Jen are you sayin you dont’ want ramean noodles for Christmas dinner?

I know lots of people who do Lasagna- its easy to make ahead
My family also does ham, cheesy potatoes, a veggie, salad, rolls and tons of desserts!!!
We usually have a big breakfast too.
Dh’s family is just plain weird… They usually get chinese food:eek:

Ooh, some great ideas here! I knew I could count on you guys to come up with something yummy. 👍 I was planning on probably turkey (maybe ham), but now DH says he wants a Christmas goose! We’ve never done that before, so maybe that will be a new tradition for us. 😛 Now I’ve just got to narrow down some side dishes. I’ve been emailing all my aunts trying to find my Grandma’s pecan pie recipe too–another thing I’ve never ventured to make. Keep 'em coming! I still need sides!
We always did goose for Christmas day when I was growing up. One thing to keep in mind is there’s not a whole lot of meat on a goose, no where near what you get with a turkey, a goose is a bit lanky, and has a very large open cavity inside. It’s all dark meat too, like a duck. So if you’re feeding a lot of people, you might want to have a ham or something like that just as a back up. Our sides for the goose are the regular Thanksgiving fare. We usually have a Christmas pudding for desert. And lots of eggnog, although we don’t ordinarily spike it with anything but a sprinkle of nutmeg on top.

Christmas Eve is always a seafood feast. We have several different broiled fish, and an assortment of shellfish, sometimes lobster. One year I made seafood gumbo too, even the soup base was a fish fume’, there was no meat in it all, and it was really really yummy (my girlfriend made the roux for me cuz I’d never done that before at the time!).

Try the goose for Christmas!

Between Christmas Eve and Christmas Day this year we will be doing Steak and Ale, Sausage and Peppers and some kind of roast (probably pork this year). Plus chips and salsa, bean dip and spinach dip. And of course some veggies (I guess:rolleyes: ).

We always do something Italian, and something Irish or Irish-American. Most of it changes every year, except for the chips and salsa we make that for every holiday all year long. Thats an Arizona tradition right there.

Well DH is going turkey hunting on the 19th so if he gets a turkey we will have that…if not we usually rotisserie a big prime rib with au jus and yorkshire pudding.

For christmas morning I make a hashbrown cassarole like cracker barrels. and my mom is bringing chile relleno.

Good to know! I knew it looked a lot skinnier, but didn’t realize the cavity was bigger too. Should be a small crowd this year, so probably enough, just no leftovers. 😦

I’m thinking I’ll brine it like a turkey to keep it moister, then add some butter or olive oil when baking. Mmmmm!
