No, because if they are not aware it is sinful, if they do not intend to miss their obligation, there is not culpability.

Heck, we have been advertising in the bulletin and flyers since Thanksgiving. It is on our Facebook page and our website. We have either called, texted or emailed every registered parishioner (over 1000 families). To be honest, I think our parish is above the curve when it comes to pushing information to our parishioners.
There will still be many who “had no idea”.

I attended a vigil mass for 4th Sunday of Advent last night. The church was PACKED! I have never seen so many people at a Saturday evening mass. It was amazing and beautiful.

@Nelka I think those who regularly attend Sunday mass are aware of the need to attend two masses this weekend. And those who regularly attend Sunday mass will WANT to attend two masses – one for 4th Sunday and one for Christmas.

Those who do not regularly attend Sunday mass (without just cause) have already committed grave sin, so confusion over this weekend’s requirements really aren’t the issue with these folks.

Afgsr finishing work this morning I then missed Mass when I had got home and thought I was in mortal sin. I realised I could go to Mass at 5:30 tonight which is Christmas Mass anduse it for Sunday Mass and go to Mass again tomorrow for Christmas Mass. It’s very confusing, it would be easier if they picked a time and said all Masses before that time are Sunday Masses and after the time are Christmas Masses. I don’t even know whether I should receive Communuon tonight because I don’t know what to do.

When was the last time Christmas fell on a Sunday and caused this? I don’t remember it happening before?

I don’t understand why you have doubts about receiving communion. Why wouldn’t you receive tonight?

This happens every time when Christmas falls on a Saturday or a Monday. Christmas moves one day every year, except of course in leap years when it jumps 2 days

Everything, it isn’t simple. I just got back from Mass, I didn’t receive communion as I don’t know if I were supposed to. 😦

imo, Christmas falling on a Monday is much more problematic than Christmas falling on a Saturday.

Not to me, a Saturday Christmas is problematic as it is difficult to say when the civil holiday will be. Is there going to be mail on the 24th?

Folks are making this far more difficult than it is. Go to Mass twice. Go on Saturday or Sunday for Sunday, just like you always do.

Go to mass on Christmas evening or Christmas day, just as you would for any other Christmas

I didn’t receive communion because I didn’t know if it would be sacrilege or desecration and don’t know if it s sacrilege or desecration for not receiving. I don’t know if I have to go to Communion for this Mass confusion and/or not receiving communion.

The whole thing is depressing me.

Exactly what on earth are the correct times?

I’m guessing different churches have different Mass times and different amounts of Masses?
