And, more to Digitonomy’s point (heh), the celebration of Christmas takes precedence and replaces the Sunday celebration. (Just as, for instance, when November 1 falls on a Sunday, the Solemnity of All Saints is celebrated, and there simply is no 31st Sunday in Ordinary Time for that year)When Christmas falls on a Sunday, the feast day of Christmas is celebrated. From the Saturday Vigil, Midnight Mass, fist Mass of the day etc. This year, the Holy Day of Obligation falls on a Monday. Hence, Christmas celebrations commence on Monday.
