Christmas Traditions

I am enrolled in the RCIA. My wife is muslim.

I am just wondering what Christmas traditions people follow.

I want it to be a special time of the year for me.

I dont know how to celebrate Christmas. What does one do beyond going to Mass?

Christmas tree goes up the day after Thanksgiving.

Christmas Eve 7:00/8:00 PM open Christmas gifts and snack/buffet-style food. Eat very light.

Attend Midnight Mass.

Christmas day noon have big Christmas Dinner.

Christmas tree comes down in January the day after the Epiphany of the Lord.

I hope a lot of other posters answer because Christmas is celebrated so very many different ways. You can pick and choose how you want to celebrate. Maybe even start you own Christmas traditions.

With us the tree usually goes up a few days before Christmas.

Presents are opened on Christmas morning, with a nice spread of cakes, coffee and other goodies for breakfast.

Followed by morning Mass (live too far away to go to Midnight Mass) and a fantastic festive lunch. Possibly a swim on the beach in the afternoon depending on the weather (being Australian it’s summer here).
