Has anyone ever watched it? I think it is one of my favorite movies depicting the life of Christ. I wish they would make a movie for each of the other 3 Gospels.

I’ll have to check it out, thanks for the tip! Christopher Plummer is one of my all-time favorite actors, it was so nice to see him at the Oscars this year and still acting in prominent films.

There is a movie/miniseries of the Gospel of Matthew done by the same company that did John. You can find @ Amazon.com by searching for Visual Bible Matthew.
They also have one for the Book of Acts.

I did; I also watched the Gospel of Matthew. Really nice movies they are (they’re quite high in my list), but I do have a bit of a qualm about the Matthew one; it’s one of those so-called ‘buddy Jesus’ movies common in the 90’s where people are too keen to show Jesus smiling or laughing as a way to counter the dour and stiff Jesuses of old that He ends up looking too much of a clown with little to no hint of authority (there’s nothing bad about doing so, but it was really overdone IMO). At least John does not have much of the problem that Matthew had, but then again, given the general portrayal of Jesus in St. John’s Gospel this is not much surprising.Has anyone ever watched it? It might interest you to know that the guy who played Jesus in Matthew (Bruce Marchiano) is planning his own adaptation of John. As of now, the project still seems to be around the beginning stages.Justin1224,

BTW, Bruce apparently grew up Catholic, based on what I’ve gleaned on the net, but didn’t ‘know God personally’ and all that until…you know the drill. (Nope, I’m not detracting the man here, please don’t misunderstand)

Overall, I liked it - other than the obvious, glaring problem of having Mary Magdalene at the Last Supper.
