**Is this Geez (the liturgical langauge) or Amharic (the vernacular)?

There’s a certain Orthodox cathedral that has a lot of Ethiopian parishioners. One of the priests there tried saying the Paschal greeting in Geez–and only one voice responded, “Voistinu voskrese,” while the Ethiopians looked blankly at him.

When he returned to the altar, the Bishop said, “Looks like the Geez have flown the coop and the ducks have taken over.”

Isn’t Church fun? 😃 **
