Christ's Healing miracles

Hello,

When Christ performs a miracle why does he “spit” on his hands when he heals the deaf man? Or why does he “rub” dirt in his hands and then on the eyes of the blind man to heal him?

What is significant about this? Is it significant? Is there something relevant here?

These are just 2 examples… Any guidance would be appreciated.

One of the reasons is that Christ is using this to institute the concept of the Sacraments, which include form (the words) and matter (the substance).

For instance, Baptism includes:
Form (“I baptize you in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit”)
Matter (Sprinkling, Pouring, or Immersion of water)

Eucharist:
Form (“The Body of Christ”, “The Blood of Christ”)
Matter (The bread and the wine)

Marriage uses the rings.
Confirmation and Annointing of the Sick use the Oil.

Confession?
what is the confession matter, the priest laying on of his hands?

Holy Orders.
It’s also the Oil.

All Catholic Sacraments have form and matter.

Note: Just as in the healings you’ve described in the OP, there is no reason that Christ HAD to have these substances, but he may be using them to help our little minds wrap themselves around the Sacraments in a way we can fuller comprehend.
