My son and I took his 2 kids, 6 & 3 at the time. As soon as that “mechanical band” started up, the 3 year old started screaming in fear. We had to rush out of the place because he was so scared! His Mom said he had nightmares for months afterwards.
We never went back and that was 7 years ago.

I have no children, but I do have a 4 year old niece.
We took her to CEC this year.
It was chaotic and the staff seemed less than enthused to be there. My hubby used to work for Build A Bear as a party leader and he was very critical of how CEC was run.

But, did anyone notice the beer? Atleast in our town, CEC serves beer… I’m not against drinking or anything, but guzzling down beer at a kids place seemed just wrong to me somehow.
I didn’t notice any beer, and also think it’s out of place for Chuck E Cheese. Maybe they are hoping it will soothe more dads into being able to make it through a few hours of the place! :rotfl:

You don’t need to tell me exactly where(I don’t want to ask personal questions) but in what “region” of the Country does CEC serve beer??? I live in North Central Jersey and never heard of this. This is all we need rude kids and drunk parents:bigyikes:

The Midsouth, The Mississippi River area (south of St Louis, North of New Orleans)
Includes Arkansas, Tennessee, & Mississippi

Chuck E. Cheese is my husband’s vision or purgatory. Personally, I like the pizza. —KCT

Thanks for all the funny threads! If anyone has any particularly funny, crazy, or otherwise angering moments at the Cheesiest place on Earth, please share with us!

I worked at a CEC in the Jersey region (Delaware) and we served beer. Really complicated since no sane person over 21 will work there, and you weren’t allowed even to ring it up until you were 18. But the Dad’s loved it. I can remember soooooo many Dad’s rolling their eyes, opening their wallets grudgingly when in line to order, then when they got close enough to see the menu board, reading “beer” silently and then looking heavenward and mouthing “Thank you God!!!”

I can’t narrow down the funniest thing I saw working there, but I swear most people checked their brains at the door. We used to give people cups with holes in the bottom for their tokens so that they couldn’t steal the all-you-can-drink soda, and not a day went by that someone didn’t try to “exchange” their “broken” cup for a new one so that they could get some soda. Then of course, there are the people who wanted to buy the prize category dividers (literally a strip of red tape) with their tickets, and those who got mad when their quarters wouldn’t work the rides, oh, I could go on and on and on. I noticed the same effect on people when I worked at an amusement park in college.

Peace bwu, I just want to thank you for the title of this post–every time I scan down the Family Life forum, I give a little giggle when I read “Chuck E. Cheese is Da Debble, Bobby!” 😃

I’ve never even been to Chuck E. Cheese–there’s just something about Adam Sandler movies that appeals to my inner adolescent, I guess!

I found myself pondering the holes… I wondered if it was for a suffocation risk… now I now why!

Something to ponder…Maybe Chuck E. Cheese can even bring out “Da Debble” in poor overstimulated parents and kids.
