Church allowing work on Sunday?

My church recently decided to paint the inside of our church and therefore moving our service into another part of the church. I’m a cathechumen and not sure about all the doctrines. However, our priest is allowing the company to paint all day on Sunday. My opinion is that this is wrong. His answer was that they’re not catholic and not bound by our rules. He also said he wants the Church to be ready for Easter. I feel everyone should rest and worship on Sundays. What’s the Church standing on this?
