dear Carly, I think you may suffer from scruples, as do I, so I can recognize it, try to get involved in your parish, since you are new, it is very unlikely that anyone is judging you, since they don’t even know you, I know how easy it is for the mind to think that though, since we aware of our sins and our past, ry to do things to occupy your time, that feeling of guilt will diminish and fill your mind with good, holy things, it leaves less room for the devil to put these bad thoughts in our head, I will pray for you

From what you wrote, you are seeking an exciting and fun experience. You use the word “fun” several times. The Mass is a sacrifice wherein you meet the Lord Our God in the most intimate of ways. It is profound, and solemn, humbling and joyful. It is not “fun” in the sense you seem to want. It can be, at times, exhilarating, but most times for most Catholics it isn’t a time when one experiences excitement or fun. I also think that you are looking for the same type of “feeling” in confession. Again, confession is a solemn, humbling, and joyful thing but rarely at the level of “feelings.” I’d urge you to study the Catholic faith and make sure you do pray every day so as to grasp a faith that is not merely seeking “feelings.”
