Are there any records of papal bulls or anything saying in regards to being faithful and loving to one’s own nationality?

I’ve seen a few about other people’s nationalities, but nothing as far as I could find about one’s own.

I don’t know about papal documents, but I think Thomas has something to say about it.

“On the second place, the principles of our being and government are our parents and our country, that have given us birth and nourishment. Consequently man is debtor chiefly to his parents and his country, after God. Wherefore just as it belongs to religion to give worship to God, so does it belong to piety, in the second place, to give worship to one’s parents and one’s country.”

Summa II-II, 101, i, co

Maybe Our Lord said it all when he said "Render to Caesar what is Caesar’s and render to God what is God’s.

Yes, I agree with this. And we must remember that the Bible warns that all nations will fail. In the end all there is, is God. No matter what your ethnicity, or nation, we are called to put God first even if it means giving up our heritage and country. I think people tend to forget that sometimes.

I certainly don’t want to see our nation fail, but if it becomes Godless there can be no other future for it, or any nation that rejects God.

If that’s the will of God…it seems like a waste that He would create a nation only to have it destroyed. Where does it say that in the Bible exactly? And will the Jewish nation also fail?

Isn’t this referring to taxes?

Very interesting. Very very interesting. I thought the Catholic Church a bunch of nourish-your-boo boo, spineless, unaudacious, unheroic, unspiritual, uncaring, lack-of-community, back-stabbing, babylonian, lying, manipulative, anti-traditional, pro-homosexual, extremely racist institution. But this certainly raises an eye-brow. Maybe I’m wrong to have doubts about the Church. Maybe.

That’s weird, I could swear I left a message here yesterday…

Will the Jewish nation fail?

I certainly can’t predict anything about the “nation” of Israel but the Jewish People will always remain God’s Chosen People.
Even if they don’t believe in Him? Then how can people say the Godless are doomed to fail?

What makes you think that the the Jewish people don’t believe in God?

They do not believe that Jesus was the son of God, the Messiah, but they they are not ‘Godless’.

Thank you for that post. What is with people? And who is to say that God can’t work with each individual regardless of their particular Faith, and bring them to salvation? I get tired of some of the judgmental postings here. Again, thank you for reminding people that Jews do believe in God.

But if they do not believe in God Himself, wouldn’t that make them Godless?

I am very confused, and I think you are too.

The Jews believe in the same God we do, the God of Abraham.
They do not believe that Jesus was the son of God, but they still believe in God.

Jesus was a Jew, so were most of his disciples, so I am not sure why you think that the Jews do not worship God.

No, I think it makes perfect sense. Are the Jews not a nation? And has this nation not already been guilty of not believing in God? It seems like there’s an sense of extreme denial when it comes to this. Just because someone is a Jew doesn’t mean they’re going to believe in God. And you keep twisting my words around, saying Jesus this and Jesus that, when I haven’t even once made mention of Jesus. Not once.

According to reports, more and more Jews practice less their religion and simply just take the,“I’m going to enjoy life.” But if we look at scripture, they’re doing the complete opposite of what it says. So. It comes to down this: Can the Jewish people fail? They’re not a religion. They’re an ethnoreligion. That means that the people are forged into a community.

But according to people here, every nation in the world can fail because they don’t believe in God, except for the Jews? Is this correct? Then clearly God must be playing favorites.
