I agree…

Compromise has its place.

But

If we are willing
To compromise everything,
We accept nothing

And

We replace our principles
With
Empty words
Not within our own families. Just because walls are dissolved does not mean our faiths or legacies have to as well.

Being a part of a religion takes serious responsibility, though. If it is used through manipulation and fear, it is no religion, but a chain. But I guess that wouldn’t matter with these borders we hide behind: Religion isn’t religion anymore. Everyday, it looks more and more like a competition.

Principles can unite us
Are there any principles
that unite you and me?

Well, since I respect your principles, would you be willing to respect mine?
Thank you,
but it depends what your principles are.

For example,
I don’t respect evil
But I doubt
That is one of your principles.

(I want to avoid “miscommunication,” because
that can lead to an “endless” list of problems)

Can I ask you…

What kinds of obstacles
Do you see
In imposing
The Human Life Amendment
(Or any Zero Amendment)
On secular society?..
I apologize for starting the debate
On imposing a Human life Amendment.
I should have remained silent.

Well, there are a lot of principles in Christianity that I see as–not “evil”-- but illogical and unreasonable, though I will still respect it. What can you do-- especially when the stereotypical Christian would tune me out with that familiar glazed look in their eyes I’ve seen several times?

With that being said, do my principles even matter?

All people seek
Happiness in principle

Give me any example
Of someone
Not seeking
Happiness in principle

**If they find it, they have found happiness - because it’s what they wanted. Masochists are happy in their way too - presumably they should join forces with sadists. Then they could all be happy together. 🙂 **

I want to take your principles seriously
Because
I think we all take our principles seriously

If you don’t
Want to state your principles
I will try to respect that.

I can respect a principle
That feels “good” to the individual
Because
I believe
God is Goodness and Happiness
And we are all unique

But where we may differ…

I think
Happiness is also logical (which assumes an objectivity)
And
Our conclusion can lack relevant information
And so
We can be mistaken in concluding Happiness

I think your principles matter to me,
But you tell me.

I can respect a principle
That feels “good” to the individual…
I think I was too eager to find agreement…

I should drop the “…to the individual…”
Because
Having a divided good
Is not a common good

We all have different vocations in life.
But
Our vocations act as one body.

I think I was too eager to find agreement…

I should drop the “…to the individual…”
I take that back…

A vocation “feels good to the individual”
I have always stated Goodness unites us all

I see no problem in emphasizing
Our agreement
And
Deemphasizing
Our disagreement

(It’s not like we are creating a new New Testament)
