If you are referring to the fact that Catholics don’t agree with the use of contraception - then have no fears! It is not a sin to use it!😃

LOL i think my cheaper by the dozen thing was more diplomatic, but yeah i dont want that many kids i cant stand them screaming or dinging the bell on the bus so many times they get kicked off by the driver or hitting and kicking their mother, kids should be sent to mars until they are 20 then brought back.

:rotfl::rotfl::bounce::amen: I agree!

Thank you Sammie,
My prayer will consist of the usual requests such as: JOIN THE CATHOLIC CHURCH! JESUS WANTS YOU TO!:highprayer::signofcross:

😃
Amen! šŸ‘

(My own Church recently filed a formal petition to do just that.) Please pray for the reunion of the Church.

Blessings.

Ahem, Donegal is one of the 26 counties of the Republic of Ireland, regardless of what Tourism Ireland might tell you. The 6 counties of what is known as Northern Ireland are Derry, Fermanagh, Tyrone, Armagh, Antrim and Down.:irish1:

Your statement is offensive and comes out of your ignorance of the Catholic Church.

The Church does not ā€œlook atā€ women as breeding machines.

Don’t worry about it, no offense taken. When civil servants down south put Donegal in N. Ireland on tourist maps I can understand how mistakes can be made. Added to the fact that Donegal, being the most northernly county, it is still in the south and not in the north!
Hope that doesn’t confuse the hell out of any non-Irish out there:D

I’m sorry if you feel that that is the way the Church* looks* at you. Nothing could be further from the truth. I sometimes think Catholicism is the most misunderstood religion in the world. Women are not looked at as ā€˜breeding macines’ or sexual objects.

On Contraception
2370 cont. …In contrast, ā€˜every action which, whether in anticipation of the conjugal act, or in its accomplishment, or in the development of its natural consequences, proposes, whether as an ends or a means, to render procreation impossible’ is intrinsically evil… The difference, both anthropological and moral, between contraception and recourse to the rhythm of the cycle… involves in the final analysis two irreconcilable concepts of the human person and of human sexuality.

I meant no offense but that is how i see things like not being allowed to use contraception children are a major responsibility and i do not think that a woman having one child after another is a good thing they need time to develop a bond with their children they do not really get that when they have a child and then fall pregnant a couple of months later with the next one, i have seen it happen because i have a few catholic friends, and yes i am somewhat ignorant of the catholic church because i am not a catholic, my comment was based on me observing my friends and not a general rule for all catholic people.šŸ™‚

Hey now, (name removed by moderator), You’re dam right that I’m offended!!! HOW DARE YOU!

(only joking!)
Don’t worry, I’m not offended! Ha, ha, sorry if I scared you! I don’t feel that you said any thing wrong or any thing like that! I know why you say that they are not churches - because they are not the church that Jesus had in mind when he made the covenant to peter! And I agree. But I still call them churches any way.

I think I told you before, when I first told my protestant ministers that I wanted to go in to a catholic church to see what was different, they sad that Catholics were sexist and that is why they don’t employ women in clergy.
That was their way of trying to make me despise Catholics so that I wouldn’t go into their churches!
All I can say is this; ā€œIt didn’t work!ā€šŸ˜›

Amen! šŸ‘

I promise you that I will pray for you, your church and the reunion. God Bless. :bible1:

In the end we shall all be united in the name of our father, his son, his holy spirit, his beautiful communion of saints and his holy catholic church. Amen to that.

Hi, JohnT58,

I didn’t really understand a word of this -

On Contraception
2370 cont. …In contrast, ā€˜every action which, whether in anticipation of the conjugal act, or in its accomplishment, or in the development of its natural consequences, proposes, whether as an ends or a means, to render procreation impossible’ is intrinsically evil… The difference, both anthropological and moral, between contraception and recourse to the rhythm of the cycle… involves in the final analysis two irreconcilable concepts of the human person and of human sexuality.

But am I right in thinking that what you meant was; contraception is wrong and evil?
I think that’s what you meant…
In many many ways I totally agree with you (if that really is what you were saying).
To indulge in sexual activities but to not take responsibility for the fact that life comes from it, is actually very wrong I think. God didn’t make us that way. Obviously there is some thing wrong with it.

I meant no offense but that is how i see things like not being allowed to use contraception
It is not a matter of ā€œnot being allowedā€ to use contraception. It’s not a ā€œruleā€ that the Church made up or imposes on Catholics.

Contraception is against God’s law. It is intrinsically disordered-- a wrong use of the sexual faculties God gave us.

We are ā€œnot allowedā€ to use contraception in the same way we are ā€œnot allowedā€ to murder or steal, or offend against any of the other of the Ten Commandments.
children are a major responsibility and i do not think that a woman having one child after another is a good thing
The Church does not require any woman to have ā€œone child after another.ā€ This, I believe, is the heart of your misunderstanding.

The fact that contraception is against God’s law does not mean a woman must have many children. There are moral means of spacing children or avoiding for a time, and there are immoral means. Contraception is an immoral means.
they need time to develop a bond with their children they do not really get that when they have a child and then fall pregnant a couple of months later with the next one, i have seen it happen because i have a few catholic friends,
Have you considered that (a) your friends *wanted *children close together and (b) you may be wron gabout your theory that a woman needs a lot of ā€œtimeā€ to ā€œbondā€ with her children. I have lots of non-Catholic friends who *purposely *had their children very close together because they wanted them to be close in age.
and yes i am somewhat ignorant of the catholic church because i am not a catholic, my comment was based on me observing my friends and not a general rule for all catholic people.šŸ™‚
Maybe you should consider that your friends do not consider themselves brood mares, but rather mothers who love their children and want more of them.

The problem with that is my friend spoke to me when i was round hers and she told me she did not want kids so close together because she hadn’t had time to bond with her first child, she told me the reason she had them so close together is that she was not allowed to use contraception. This is part of the reason that my personal view is women are breeding machines, that is my personal view and that is what i think im not speaking for anyone else. I know very well that my friends love their children, we are all like family and although we are no relation the children call me auntie Sammie.

Then maybe you should suggest that your friend check out some websites with information on how to space her children if she needs to:

www.ccli.org

www.creightonmodel.com

www.boma-usa.org or www.woomb.org (outside US)

www.marquette.edu/nursing/NFP/Model.shtml

There are moral ways to space children when there is a just reason. Contraception is not one of those ways.
This is part of the reason that my personal view is women are breeding machines, that is my personal view and that is what i think im not speaking for anyone else.
It seems your friend is unware of what the Church teaches in the area of sexual intimacy, procreation, and parenthood. I can see how her lack of understanding could in turn give you a false impression of what the Catholic Church actually teaches.
I know very well that my friends love their children, we are all like family and although we are no relation the children call me auntie Sammie.
That’s great.

I suppose it depends on what church you go to and how the meaning of something can change from person to person, as I have stated before in one of my first posts in this thread I don’t think any other religion is wrong it is just how others interpret what has been told to them and what they know for themselves. I am a very chilled out sort of person and everyone is fine with me i would not care if someone was green with red and blue spots if they were friendly to me I will be friendly back.

I would also like to know from you if you can tell me, some of my friends ( not Catholics ) have been put on the pill because they get bad periods does the Catholic church allow this or would there be some other way of dealing with it. I want to learn about the Catholic church because i want to understand my friends better, if you could send me a private E-mail that would be great ( Im not sure how to send them on here, i only joined this site yesterday and i’m still learning how to find everything).šŸ™‚
