Do you think the Church doors should be open during the daytime?
Canon Law requires that all churches with the Blessed Sacrament in a tabernacle be open at least for some hours each day to allow access of the faithful to the Blessed Sacrament for adoration and prayer. However they should only be open when someone who is capable of protecting the Blessed Sacrament is there.Do you think the Church doors should be open during the daytime?
That was the case with my church. When our new pastor came 3 years ago; the church was open from 6am-6pm. Then one day a kid started coming into the church and hanging out there. After my pastor found out that this kid is a known arsonist, he locked up the church. My parish, St. Cecilia’s in Rochester, NY is open 24/7. I think that is great because sometines one needs a few quiet minutes to pray. Unfortunately some of your most beautiful churches are in bad neighborhoods and cannot remain open because of crime and vandalism.
I don’t think so.Do you think the Church doors should be open during the daytime?
The town in which I grew up has 25,000 people - which makes it one of the larger communities in Iowa. The churches had to start locking their doors 30 years ago because of problems with vandalism.Although crime(vandalism) is a great concern![]()
