Yeah, and odd combination, I know. Stlil, I have to flesh out some reading I’ve done on my state’s mandatory reporting law and I’d like to do it via someone among the Church Fathers. Does anyone out there have an idea of ANYTHING that I could link with my topic?

Hmm… what angle are you thinking of taking? “Cooperating with government”? “Obedience to civil law”? “Protecting the weak”?

Could you explain “mandatory reporting”, please?
People who hold public service positions, usually teachers. If they are told, or discover any abuse of any kind to children, they have to report it to the authorities.

If a child is being abused, that is a sin against the innocent…and certainly MUST be reported!

In order to volunteer at my old Catholic elementary school, I had to take a quiz about recognizing various types of abuse.

Yes, mandatory reporting refers to the responsibility of some professionals to report even suspected abuse, neglect, et c. In my state, by law, all citizens are mandatory reporters. So, any person, regardless of occupation or role in someone’s life, is a mandatory reporter.

I’m also a mandatory reporter by profession.

So, doing some work in continuing education for my certification, I did a workshop on mandatory reporting. Now I’m supposed to flesh that out with some reading on my own.

I did have in mind protection of the weak but I would explore just about any angle that made sense.
