Jon Thank you for your opinion but this was for me and JohnHus I think we can handle it okay. Have a great day and may God bless You

Jon, Here is where You may be messing up " I interpret Scripture by asking the Holy Spirit to guide me. " You are saying all 35,000 non-cathloic denominantion are guide by the Holy Spirite and we know that is just WRONG. The CHURCH is the Pillar of Truth not the Bible 2Pet 3:16–2Pet 1:20=21 and the big one Jn 21;25 but its okay I can see you are still leading,Keep up the good word.
If you get 3 non-cathloic in a room with a Bible we will get 4 diff interpretation,Have a good day
With all due respect Mr. Pick, the 30-35K mantra is childish and a rather weak attempt to avoid the real question. Ok, freedom of religion and conscience allows this but you place yourself in the company of some rather immature company with this response.

At the crux of the matter is our respective definitions of what is the church. You insist that it is made up of individuals who place themselves under the authority of the Bishop of Rome. I define the church as those individuals who have acknowledged their need of forgiveness and are trusting in Jesus for their salvation. Your faith is in the teachings of the Roman Catholic Church, mine faith is spelled out in the Holy Bible.

You have every right to believe what ever you so desire, even if it is intellectually dishonest, which based on your above statement: *" You are saying all 35,000 non-cathloic denominantion are guide by the Holy Spirite and we know that is just WRONG." *it probably is.

One thing I know for sure, when I stand in judgement, it will not be infront of you, the Roman Pope, Saint Peter or the church (true or false) and so forth. My defense will be the unbroken Scriptures, not the ever evolving doctrines of one of 35,001 denominantions.

Yours truly,
Jon

Jon You are doing very well you got another one right,What you do not deal with in life, you will deal with in death may God bless You I will kept you in my prayers. BTW what Church do you belong,===You know I,m Cathloic but I,l bet I never find out you Chruch, have a great day and may God have mercy of your soul

My good friend Bill.

One of the incorrect statements often made by Catholics on this forum is that non-Catholics who hold the Bible in high regard feel free to interpret it in any way that suits their fancy. On the other hand, they (Catholics) brag that Catholics are protected from this “misuse” of Scripture by getting their information on the Bible from the Catholic Church. While I cannot speak for all Protestants, I can speak for myself. I would like to make this as clear to you as possible. I interpret Scripture by asking the Holy Spirit to guide me. I can check my interpretation of Scripture for errors by comparing it to Scripture. In other words, the Bible cannot contradict itself. So if I say that verse “x” means “y”, then I better be able to find verses to support my “y” and no verses to contradict my “y”. Jesus said “the Scriptures cannot be broken.” This bears repeating, the Scriptures cannot be broken.

Ok, now Bill, one of the central truths of the Bible is that only God can forgive sins against God. If there is any doubt in your mind about the accuracy of this statement then there is really no point in our continuing this discussion as much fun and entertaining as it may be. Jesus was sentenced to death by the Jewish leaders because he claimed to be able to forgive man’s sins against God. If Jesus were not God in the flesh, then the Jewish leaders would have been correct in their charge against him. If you or a church are teaching that someone other than God is able to forgive sins and use Scripture to back up the claim, they might I suggest that there is something wrong with your interpretation of those verses you use to support your claim? A bitter pill to swallow maybe, but this is what the Bible teaches.

In a previous response to you, I tongue and cheek forgave you for your sin of incorrect spelling and grammar. My forgiving you, nice as it is, is not the same as God forgiving you of your sins against Him. If I steal something from you, I have committed a sin against both you and God. I have taken something that rightfully belongs to you. I can apologize and or make restitution to you and you may or may not forgive me, which is your call. If you forgive me great, but unless I also confess this sin to God and ask His forgiveness, I have still broken God’s law and this needs to be addressed. But I can go to God and ask forgiveness and receive it from him regardless of what you do. True, the Bible teaches that true forgiveness can only be achieved by asking forgiveness (to God and the victim), repenting and making restitution to the victim. Notice that I’m not saying that a person can sin against his fellow man, ask God to forgive, then sin again with impunity. This is not what I’m saying so I ask that you do not make that charge.

If, on the other hand, you refuse to forgive me of a sin that that I have committed against you and I have asked God to forgive that sin and I have done everything possible to prove true repentance and you still refuse to forgive me for no good reason, then you now have a sin problem. You would be guilty of being stubborn, prideful, arrogant, un-loving, what ever. You, from God’s perspective hate me. This is what John 20:22-23 is teaching believers. Let God administer final justice, we my friend if we are true believers in Christ are to love one another, as Christ loved the church and gave his life for it.

Yours truly
Jon
Thank you for your replys. You are so true in what you are saying about scripture. Continue the Good Fight of Faith. God Bless:thumbsup:

JOn You keep saying that the Holy Spirit guides you, that is what all 36,000 non-cathloic church say,so what you are trying to say the Holy Spirit is not doing the job and we both that dont true.
Your preacher is the one that guides you it and the false teaching of SolaScriptura.
and Sola Scriptua is NOT taught any where in the Bible and we can only have ONE interpretation of the Bible. The CHURCH has one interpretation of the Bible. Look in your phone book and you can see many churchs all being lead by the Holy Spirit and getting a GUIDE BY THE HOLY SPIRIT but all teaching a diff doctrine and all using Sola Scriptura.
The Bible tell me it is the Pillar of Truth and not all is in the Bible
Just reread your post, God is the person that for give sin and the priest here on earth is who He goes by, Jn20-22-23 Jesus only did this 2 times in the Bible, when He breath on some one,if you can not understand that you will never understand the Bible,If Jesus did not give His Power to the apostolic, and did not give His Apostolic Succession to them…BTW You still did not tell me your Church
