Church Gifts for Communion & Confirmation

I am in charge of ordering gifts (from the church) for those who are making their first communion and confirmation. We have a $10 limit per child - including s&h costs. I have looked through www.autom.com and found lots of possible ideas. I want something that will “show off” the faith and not be shoved into a drawer never to be seen again. However, I am open to suggestions… got any?
 
I would order the wallet sets with missal, scapular, rosary, and first communion pin, they are usually on sale in bulk from Autom for around $6. have a session to explain how to use the missals. You can also ask the priest or deacon for the blessing and investiture with the brown scapular

for Confirmation, the International Student Bible for Catholics NAB (paperback, white with blue and red by Thomas Nelson Pub. is a good gift, the Q&A in front are great. they are $8-11 from the Communications Center, a clearing house for religious books.
 
I’d get them something to help further catechize them. They’ll get their share of rosaries, medals, statues…

For First Communicants I’d suggest the Friendly Defender cards by Matthew Pinto . If you can get them through a local Catholic bookstore you may be able to stay at $10. Otherwise s&h will put you over.
There are also ‘Catechism Quiz’ spiral bound flip books that run about $8 each. There’s a different one for each grade leve. My kids love them.

For Confirmation, a student study bible would be good -there is one especially for teens but I can’t remember the name. Amy Welborn has a couple great books called ‘Why Church’ and ‘Why Pray’ that are good for this age. Also, Fr. Stan Fortuna has a book called ‘U Got 2 Pray’ that is good. Not sure on the price of these books,but I’m thinking around $10.
 
For confirmands: Catechism of the Catholic Church. OK. It probably will get stuck in a drawer. But no Catholic should have an excuse not to know what’s in it.
