Dear Friends,
I have one question that begs your ideas or opinions…

why do people today do not go to church anymore?

Because it does not fit into their lifestyle. Many of the things, usually of a moral nature, that they may hear there, interfere with their lifestyle.

which people?
churches in someplaces are filled to overflowing and new churches being built to welcome them

Dear friends,
first the church in Europe for example…in Rome…
my friends told me that there only some old people are going to mass every sunday…but young people are only few…

yes, one of the reasons could be the life-style…but is it really because of life-style or there is something else?

We have 10 Masses on Sundays and they are all fully packed.

I see you are from Indonesia. I’ve been to Mass in Bali and every time I was there the Church was full.

Self-love is the main cause of less devotion to the Eucharist. Its fruit is senstiveness and overexaggerated anxiety, and it has caused many problems in the Church: liturgical abuses, female ordaination, promotion and support of various evils in the world, etc.

If we wish to combat self-love, we need to take off our old garments and put on Christ Jesus, that is, we need to imitate the Lord. “Be holy, just as your Heavenly Father is holy”, “Love one another.” Love is the source of holiness and holiness is the summit of love, and holiness is the source of love and love is the summit of holiness. Love and holiness are one, for God, Who is one, simple, spirit, is holiness itself and love itself. Therefore, let us imitate Christ, the God-Man.

That’s a big question. I agree with puzzleannie that many churches around the world are thriving. Africa is booming from what I hear. Since the 1960’s we’ve seen every ism imaginable and put all them together and you have a big part of the reason why so many people from some parts of the world have little or no faith.

Hi “injo” 👋 Welcome to CAF.

Like many others who replied… our parish is packed… each Sunday. We have standing room only.

You didn’t say if you were making reference to your own parish… but IF you are… please pray to the Holy Spirit and ask Him to renew the faith of His flock there. He is listening to our prayers.

God bless.

Veronica,
Thanks so much for your suggestion. Indeed, we need that spirit for the live of our church.

In today’s society, people have lost their sense of sin. In fact Fr. Corapi calls the loss of the sense of sin, the greatest sin of the 20th century.

Very good answer and so true. I heard St Alphonsus Liguori asked all his flock to have a very delicate conscience so they would strive to avoid even the smallest sin. He actually said to have this and not a scrupulous conscience - and to pray for it.

Thx for raising this point and bringing it to mind. 🙂
