I want to organize a church library and want to know who everyone favorite authors are. Also include individual books if you have any,

The Power of Silence by Cardinal Robert Sarah
Augustine’s Confessions
Saint Faustina’s Diary
In God’s Hands- The diary of JP2
A good biblical concordance
A book of the lives of the saints, perhaps Butler’s.

Find Fr. John Hardon’s book, The Catholic Lifetime Reading Plan. Start by stocking up with his suggestions and go from there.

God - The Bible

Scott Hahn
G. K. Chesterton
Thomas Aquinas
Patrick Madrid

Many, many others.

My favorite Catholic authors are;

Julian of Norwich
Father Ron Rolheiser
Code:
 individual books;
Catholicism; Bishop Robert Barron

Pope Benedict XVI’s Jesus of Nazareth series.
Also, don’t forget Theology of the Body. I cannot find a library near me with it and I’m pretty sure it’s a problem elsewhere.

What kind of budget do you have?

What is the purpose of the library? Are you looking for reference books like the Bible and the Catechism, for classics, for spiritual reading, or something else?

True Devotion to Mary
Secret of Mary
Love of Eternal Wisdom
By Saint Louis de Monfort
Mystical City of God
By Venerable Mary of Agreda
Glories of Mary
By Saint Alphonsus Liguori

I have a fund raiser in mind that might bring in $6000. It is a Trivia Night. I think everyone has a Bible. I might have a few copies of the catechism. Mostly I was thinking of apologetic books by contemporary authors and classics written by the saints. The purpose is to increase the faith of Catholics and evangelize to non Catholics.

Sounds like you have a good plan!

Here are a couple of lists that may give you some ideas:

Catholic Must Reads

Catholic Classics Reading List
https://www.luc.edu/ccih/CatholicClassicsReadingList.shtml

The Little flowers of St Francis
Imitation of Christ - Thomas a Kempis
The great divorce (most C.S Lewis books)
Becoming human (most Jean Vanier books)
The name of God is mercy - Pope Francis

Douay-Rheims and RSV-CE translation Bibles

Brant Pitre: The Case for Jesus; Jesus and the Jewish Roots of the Eucharist; Jesus the Bridegroom

Cardinal Ratzinger / Pope Benedict: Jesus of Nazareth

Catholic Answers authors

Catholic Answers small booklets (short enough that people will actually read the whole things)

  1. The Life of Father De Smet, SJ: Apostle of the Rocky Mountains by Rev. Fr. E. Laveille.
  2. Akita: The Tears and Message of Mary by Fr. Teiji Yasuda

What a great idea!

I know someone that has done that as well, and created a “book registry” where people could buy a book from the library’s book wishlist and donate it. The book would then have a specially made sticker placed on it saying “XYZ donated it on behalf of ABC or 123”, for example “John and Fran Smith donated this book on behalf of Louisa Smith, John’s mother or their children”.
