It’s a sad day.
It’s a sad day.
Yes. This is a brick wall to unity. It’s a sad day.
That it certainly is. There was a study done by the CofE that specifically stated this move would damage relations with the Catholics and Orthodox but would improve relations with various liberal Protestant groups.Yes. This is a brick wall to unity.
It certainly removes one of the last barriers to the reunion of the CofE and the Methodist Church of Great Britain. That it certainly is. There was a study done by the CofE that specifically stated this move would damage relations with the Catholics and Orthodox but would improve relations with various liberal Protestant groups.
That is what is so sad and somewhat surprising to me. They had to have know what this would do, and yet they made this choice. I gave them a lot more credit than that and am very interested as to how the average Anglican will view this and the future of this faith tradition (that is if there is such a thing as an average Anglican, motley crew that they are. That it certainly is. The Russian Orthodox Church has ended the official dialogue with the Church of England, but has vowed to continue dialogue with some of the so called continuing Anglican groups. That is what is so sad and somewhat surprising to me. Yeah, where do you go from here? I don’t think it was a secret that things were headed this way but its kind of like expecting a loved one to die. You know its coming but when it does it seems devastating anyway. The Russian Orthodox Church has ended the official dialogue with the Church of England, but has vowed to continue dialogue with some of the so called continuing Anglican groups.
The only reason the Russian orthodox were trying to get the anglicans in the first place was to try to isolate Catholics. Now that their major partner went down a path that they can’t follow they’re stuck. Besides continuing anglicans don’t care about communion with the Russian orthodox so the talk means nothing.Yeah, where do you go from here? Not sure why any dialogue would really matter at this point.![]()
Do you think dialogue can still continue with the CoE and the CC? Of course we will still be in discussion with the various Anglican groups who are leaning our direction anyway but this action stops any hope of a future communion with the CoE. The motives of the Russian Orthodox aren’t really part of the equation. The only reason the Russian orthodox were trying to get the anglicans in the first place was to try to isolate Catholics. May the Holy Spirit draw all back the the foundation upon which the Church is built! To the Holy Apostles and Prophets, and the faith they espoused!Could be. Or it could mean more moving to continuing Anglican communions.

The average Anglican is, indeed, motley. That is what is so sad and somewhat surprising to me. They had to have know what this would do, and yet they made this choice. I gave them a lot more credit than that and am very interested as to how the average Anglican will view this and the future of this faith tradition (that is if there is such a thing as an average Anglican, motley crew that they are.).
Yep.The Russian Orthodox Church has ended the official dialogue with the Church of England, but has vowed to continue dialogue with some of the so called continuing Anglican groups.
Oh, I wouldn’t say that. I know of Anglicans in the Continuum who are is talks with more than one sort of Orthodox. The only reason the Russian orthodox were trying to get the anglicans in the first place was to try to isolate Catholics. Now that their major partner went down a path that they can’t follow they’re stuck. Besides continuing anglicans don’t care about communion with the Russian orthodox so the talk means nothing.
Got my doubts on that.Could be. Or it could mean more moving to continuing Anglican communions.

CC mean catholic? There will be dialogue but it means nothing, we have dialogue with plenty of groups. The CoE is just another liberal protestant denomination.Do you think dialogue can still continue with the CoE and the CC? Of course we will still be in discussion with the various Anglican groups who are leaning our direction anyway but this action stops any hope of a future communion with the CoE. The motives of the Russian Orthodox aren’t really part of the equation.
Do you think, then that they will move to the Ordinariate? Or simply stay put?Got my doubts on that.

I think that the “disaffected Anglican” is, like James Thurber’s unicorn, a mythical beast, in these days. Most of the exodus, or realignments, from official Anglicanism is probably in the past, save for those who might find the ACNA a good fit. Those for whom such things as the proper subject for the sacrament of orders, including the Episcopate, are a concern, have mostly left, already, or are prepared to accommodate.Do you think, then that they will move to the Ordinariate? Or simply stay put?
