I have been coming onto this web-site for about a year now. Been reading far more than responding. I’m writing now to seek some information from those who know about the “Church of the Great Comission.” My reasoning is that my step father has been getting wrapped up into their church, and he doesn’t talk much about it. He’s seeking “deliverance” and his last church told him flat out that they do not mess with that. He did become Catholic in order to marry my mom, but after a few years he left the church. Our family is getting frustrated…especially my mom. Any bit of advice and prayers is helpful. I just don’t want to see him in a half way house again because someone told him that he was cured and to stop taking medication. Pease help…

Hi PL,

Sorry to hear about your situation, yet ,with God all things are possible. Seems like the church is OK also. Jesus can and has set many people free, and free indeed. As far as medicine , I suppose it would be hard to determine of being healed if one stays on medications. But yes, I would be careful , and not tempt the Lord either… I would say if the pastor sensed his healing, he would also sense to indeed keep a close eye for any negative behavior, to be a real shepherd, keep accountability. I suppose it wouldn’t hurt either to check out the pastor/church for yourselves,so everybody could be on the same page .

Prayers and blessings on your family

There is only one Church and one commission God gave to the Church.

Matthew 28:
18 Then Jesus approached and said to them, “All power in heaven and on earth has been given to me.
19 Go, therefore,* and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the holy Spirit,
20 teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you.* And behold, I am with you always, until the end of the age.”

The Catholic Church has never ceased from this divine commission since the fullness of times.

If there is a community outside of the Catholic faith going by the name; “Church of the great Commission” be cautious of funding or pledging anything, until you confirm where the funds are spent exactly. Secondly, such a vocational Church should never have it’s members being quiet about the Good news of Jesus Christ, but should be shouting the good news from the roof tops. Your step Father’s silence would raise a red flag, if he were my relative.

Talk to your local parish priest. He should know or have answers for you, about such a Church in your area. Also, ask your priest about any healing Catholic services in your area. Yes we have them in our Charismatic movement, some are great evangelist priest and speakers.

For me, confession is the first step towards any healing from God, and God’s healing is free, it should not cost your step Father any family funds.

Peace be with you

Praying
