Oh, my! If this priest is slipping into dementia, or having TIAs, or some other medical and/or mental deterioration, how will he manage the revised Roman Missal on the first Sunday of Advent?
Our two parishes enjoyed a dynamic “user friendly” youth-engaging priest for about 11 years. Both parishes were thriving and growing.
Our current priest is mid-sixties, and for whatever reason(s), we’ve lost about 1/3 of the adults and our CCD has only a few children. I must mention that we’ve also lost many of the elder members due to death.
I personally like this priest. He isn’t a dynamic speaker, but his homilies always teach me something about sacred Scripture, Catholic history and faith, God’s will, Jesus’ life, moral living, stewardship, etc. I find him interesting, well educated and travelled, and a most approachable priest, especially as a confessor. The Parish Council operates well with him. But…
Our faith is not “Priest Driven”. We aren’t like some denominations who, when peeved at the minister, leave and take others with them, and start a “new” church down the road. We are an Eucharistic church.
A priest such as described at the beginning of this thread certainly is causing unrest. Rudeness is not a Christian trait.
