Man, talk about uninformed. You really take the cake. I wonder how you would respond to my saying, “Catholics believe…” followed by a bunch of nonsense that Catholics don’t believe. You don’t need to worry about my doing that, by the way. I would get no satisfaction out of stooping so low.
I am always amused by the way Mormons go into a frenzied spasm of denial when confronted with the truth about their weird cult. Read the biography of Joseph Smith, “No Man Knows My History”, by Fawn Brodie, who was a tenured professor of history at UCLA and was excommunicated from the LDS church for her book. Also, google to “Kolob”. Go to a Deseret Book Store and read the vicious attacks on the “apostate” Catholic Church including the bizarre tale of the female pope . . . “Pope Joan” . . . who gave birth to a “demonic creature” through a hole cut in he seat of her throne. Mormons are devious and unscrupulous in their efforts to convert the uninformed to their convoluted belief system concocted by their “prophet” and founder, a proven con-man, sociopath, and pedophile. And my advice, keep your hand on your wallet when dealing with these weirdos.

I hate stereotypes, but, you seem to be stepping right into one. Many mormon posters on this forum, when faced with facts or statements they cannot refute, they simply pick up their marbles and go home instead of trudging on. Either that, or the persecution card is played.

I’m not saying any of this to be mean, just simply stating what I’ve seen and experienced.
Okay, I’m not going to do that. I’m going to “trudge on,” but so far nobody has presented me with a single solitary “fact or statement I can’t refute” So far, it’s been only inaccurate information and incorrect interpretations. It won’t be until this evening, though, as I am going to be away for several hours.

You state they are incorrect, but you haven’t proven them incorrect.

I can say anything is wrong, but I have to support that position.

You haven’t done that.

Katzpur - first, welcome to CAF. I sincerely mean that. Hopefully everyone treats you with respect but at the same time shares the Catholic faith with you…and hopefully you’ll respond and we can have a dialogue. I actually have a lot of respect for you in your willingness to come to this website. I personally believe it is the Holy Spirit that is leading you.

On my previous post, I mentioned the Real Presence of Jesus in the Eucharist. This is both scriptural and the early churched believed it as well…without question for 1500 years. These facts are well documented. What evidence do you have that it is inaccurate (symbolic)?

Even I have to say that alot of what you have here is not what mormons ultimately believe.

Either you may have misunderstood what your friend said, or he didn’t know exactly what he was talking about.

There is a 3rd possibility. He may have been pulling your leg to get you wound up,
My business partner (RIP) was a “bishop” and President of his “stake” which is kind of like a parish in the RC Church. He wasn’t pulling my leg during the 10 years we operated a successful management consulting firm. In spite of our religious differences, we remained good friends. But take my advice, don’t be another uninformed, unsuspecting RC and get sucked into the black hole of Mormonism.

Stay away from this cult. I had a Mormon business partner for several years. He was a “bishop”. In his efforts to convert me I found out the following about the LDS church: They teach that the Roman Catholic Church is “apostate”. That the Christian Bible is full of lies concocted by the RC Church. The “book of Mormon” is the true scripture. The cross is a “satanic” symbol (you never see a cross in or on a Mormon “church”). God lives on the planet “Kolob” with his several wives. God came down from Kolob and had sexual intercourse with Mary and she conceived Jesus. Jesus and Lucifer are brothers by different mothers. Jesus had three wives, Mary Magdalene and Mary and Martha the sisters of Lazarus. Jesus had several children by his three wives. Jesus is not God.
Mormon men can have more than one wife in the eyes of the “church” (My business partner had 3). Business fraud is OK as long as the “church” gets 10% as a “tithe”. In the “latter days” . . . at the end of the earth . . . God will send space ships down from Kolob to carry living and resurrected Mormons to the “highest celestial realm” to live with God on Kolob. Non-Mormons will stay on earth and be consumed by fire. I found that gaining material wealth . . . by hook or crook . . . is a Mormon’s principal goal in life. You never see a Mormon “missionary” in a poor part of town.
Jack, in this post you said your former business partner had 3 wives. Or is he a widower or divorced several times but never had previous sealing cancelled?

WIlford Woodruff gave the Manifesto back in something like 1890.

So I am not sure how your former business partner could be a bishop and then a stake president if he was violating his temple covenants. 🤷

Maybe there should be a website called “Mormon Answers” or “Ask a Mormon”. Show me where in the “Doctrines and Covenants” that plural marriage is forbidden. My partner had a “legal” wife with proper records on file. He also had two much younger wives “sealed” in the temple at SLC. According to him and other church authorities I have talked to, Mormons place “church law” over “man made laws”. The current President, Mr. Thomas Monson, converses with God on the planet Kolob on a routine basis and receives “revelations” as to how Mormon church laws are revised to comply to the laws of the “Gentiles”. Keep in mind that Mormons are the “Lost Tribe of Israel” and all we non-Mormons are “Gentiles”. All the Kings of Israel had multiple wives, and so high-ranking Mormons . . . bishops, stake presidents, etc. . . . are entitled to the same perks.

To be fair to those Mormons who are part of this forum, and those of us who are former Mormons (which includes myself, former RS president and yes, having been thru the temple) , much of what you have written is inaccurate.

Sorry, be being just means pointing out error when error is spoken, even when it is spoken about Mormons.

I am sincerely sorry if I have offended you, Marie. I am an irascible, cantankerous 86 years old former Marine from WWII who converted to Catholicism 60 years ago after being brought up as a hard-nosed Southern Baptist. Every once in a while the Baptist-Marine facets of my personality surface.

Jack - thank you for serving our country.

Not offended at all…Just being just and pointing out error 🙂

And yes, thank you for serving our country. 😉

My business partner was President of his “stake” and a bishop. He was on several church committees in SLC. I suggest you read the biography of Joseph Smith “No Man Knows My History” by Fawn Brodie, who was a tenured professor at UCLA and a former Mormon. Also google to “Kolob”. Another part of your education about Mormons is to prowl a Deseret Book Store and read the vicious attacks on the Catholic Church including the story of the female pope who gave birth to a “demonic creature” through a hole cut in the seat of her throne. Mormons are devious and unscrupulous in their efforts to convert others to their cult. Also, keep your hand on your wallet when dealing with them.
Jack:
Point #1 I read Fawn Brodie’s book 30 years ago! Fabulous! She was asked by the lds brethren to write the book & won a Alfred Knopf Literary Award for it. The greatest tribute given her for this exceptional insight into the life & times of Joe Smith was to get the boot in the backside out of the lds church. Apparently, she did an exceptionally fine job concerning her research :rotfl:

Point #2 Bruce R. McConkie “Mormon Doctrine” 2nd ed., c. 1966, page 131:

"CHRISTENDOM
See** APOSTASY, CHRIST, CHRISTIANITY, CHRISTIANS. That portion of the world in which so-called Christianity prevails—as distinguished from heathen or Mohammedan lands—is called Christendom.** The term also applies to the whole body of supposed Christian believers; as now constituted this body is properly termed apostate Christendom."**

WHOA NOW! Why are lds in bed with “apostate Christians” → Catholics no less…

I apologize to Mormons . . . and former Mormons . . . visiting this forum for an erroneous statement I made in my first posting. In effect, I said that Mormons believe that in the “latter days” and end of the earth God will send spaceships to transport Mormons . . . alive and resurrected . . . to the planet Kolob where God resides with his several wives, and non-Mormons will remain on earth to be consumed by fire. This is not altogether correct. Actually, “afterlife” on Kolob is divided into three distinct levels or “degrees of glory”. Mormons will reside in the first or topmost degree called the “Celestial Kingdom” where they can frolic and cavort in a paradise of hedonism for all eternity. “Good” non-Mormons will also be transported to Kolob in spaceships, but relegated to spend eternity in the two lower degrees called “Terrestrial Kingdom” and “Telestial Kingdom” with far fewer perks than the Mormons. “Bad” non-Mormons will be relegated to an “outer darkness” and called “Sons of Perdition”. Scrupulous details of this arrangement . . . as formulated by “Prophet” Joseph Smith . . . can be found by googling to “Degrees of Glory” and Wikipedia.
