In a time when Americans are losing their jobs and schools are closing because of lack of funding, the Department of Labor gives millions to a group that only looks after Latinos. LaRaza(the master race) is a racist organization out to control the US by overpopulation with Latinos.
I see racism here, but not coming from them. Has it ever occurred to you that vast majority of wealth in this country is controlled by white men? There is nothing wrong with helping minority groups.

What a racist, xenophobic, unchristian attitude toward your fellow man.

3.4 million dollars to help Latinos get training for nursing and allied health jobs. Right now, there is a shortage of 2,500 nursing jobs in the Chicago area, according to nursingjobs.com.

These people won’t be taking anyone’s jobs. They will be trained and qualified for good jobs to become contributing and tax paying members of American society.

You really think that’s bad?

Although the topic of this thread is regularly lost in the many well thought out arguments for and against illegal immigration, it is useful to occasionally point out that the topic of the thread is not about what to do about solving the problems but about what the Church teaches on the subject.

Then again, maybe the reason we continually wander off topic is that the answer to the question is so short: The Church has no position on how these problems should be solved.

Take another look at Forbes magazine.

The richest man in the world is…MEXICAN!

You should give lectures to poor whites who, by the way, outnumber all of the other races. You should tell them that they are lucky to be poor and white. Then give a lecture to the inner city blacks. Tell them how lucky they are not to have hundreds of organizations helping them to sneak into the US and steal every dime meant for poor Americans like them.

They will be taking 2,500 nursing jobs that Americans could use. Are you that clueless? Do you really believe that only Latinos deserve those jobs?

The reason these threads go slightly off topic into the subject of “Why Latinos Deserve Better Treatment Than The Average American” is simple. They don’t deserve special treatment in the US because they never helped the US in historic events. They are here for money and that is the poorest excuse for doing anything. They create children to place an additional burden on US taxpayers. Then they play stupid if they get caught while committing a crime. They want sympathy from the religious sector because they have always been told that “look pathetic and you’ll be fed” works in the US. Their own people wouldn’t give them a dime so they feed off of America’s guilt ridden religious and wealthy.

Does that answer your question?

Just curious. Why do you think there is a shortage of 2,500 nursing jobs in the Chicago area? Which Americans could use these jobs? Why aren’t they filling them now?

I believe that everyone has a right to earn an honest days pay for an honest days work.

Better hurry up with this conversation before you get banned for what, the fifth time?

Do you know this reminds me of? A rant by Juror #10 in Reginald Rose’s 12 Angry Men. In the film version the character was played by Ed Begley. I don’t have access to the script right now, but it is a very ugly rant about an undefined “them,” though the accused does look to be Latino in the movie version of the play. I recommend you watch the movie. Its available on DVD. This attitude you express is absolutely irreconcilable with the Catholic faith.

So the one richest man in the world is Mexican. What is your point? Look at the rest of them. White men. Warren Buffet? White. Bill Gates? White. Do minorities contro the Wal-Mart empire? Nope. Whites agian. Your racist rants are infuriating.

Well, no, that was not the answer to the question I didn’t ask. I made a statement. I know why this thread keeps getting off topic; every once in a while I try to put it back on track. I am unhappy with illegal immigration too but I am even more unhappy that our bishops appear to support it. Not that that means anything - other than that they are unable to separate their political inclinations from their clerical obligations.

So why do you think that illegal aliens from Mexico, 54% of whom are less than high school educated, would take those jobs in Chicago. Lets get Americans to learn about them (probably not aware if just in a location like Chicago) and get those people to move there to take them.
Here is the Catechism on illegals:
2241 The more prosperous nations are obliged, to the extent they are able, to welcome the foreigner in search of the security and the means of livelihood which he cannot find in his country of origin. Public authorities should see to it that the natural right is respected that places a guest under the protection of those who receive him.

Political authorities, for the sake of the common good for which they are responsible, may make the exercise of the right to immigrate subject to various juridical conditions, especially with regard to the immigrants’ duties toward their country of adoption. Immigrants are obliged to respect with gratitude the material and spiritual heritage of the country that receives them, to obey its laws and to assist in carrying civic burdens.

I’ve highlighted three important qualifiers that are often dropped out in this discussion.

The first recognizes that there is a limit to the number of immigrants that a nation can absorb. Common sense tells you this: No nation can absorb an unlimited number of immigrants.

Precisely how many a particular country can reasonably absorb is a determination that must ultimately be made by the laity, who are charged with ordering the temporal affairs of society and suffusing them with the Christian spirit.

The laity are not served in this task by individuals who speak as if Catholic teaching requires an open border policy that does not recognize that there is a limit to the number of immigrants that a country can reasonably absorb or the responsibility of the laity in making the practical determination of what this number is.

The second qualifier that I have highlighted recognizes the state’s right to set legal requirements that must be met for immigration.

Again, this is something that common sense would tell you needs to be there. A state cannot reasonably be expected to absorb immigrants of any and all types. For example, a state may reasonably refuse immigration to murderers or terrorists–to name two very obvious examples.

Ultimately, it is the laity via their role in ordering the temporal affairs of society to determine, in the case of a particular country, what the reasonable conditions are to which immigration to their nation should be subject.

As before, the laity are not served in this task by those who would advocate an open borders policy that fails to recognize the state’s right to set conditions on immigration and the laity’s responsibility to determine in practice what those requirements are to be.

The third qualifier that I have highlighted reflects the duty of immigrants to respect the laws of the nation to which they are immigrating.

This includes respecting the laws of the nation regarding whether or not the person is able legally to be in the country.

Immigrants are morally bound to respect the laws of the nation to which they are immigrating, including its laws regarding whether they may legally be there.
