In other words, the Angels of God literally DEMAND proper deportment when it come to attire in Church. Don’t listen to these ‘Catholic’ Liberals that it is OK to not wear a veil because it’s not.

I’m going to guess this was a Novus Ordo priest. 9 out of 10 Traditional priests aren’t going to say it is a “personal choice”. The fact is that veiling is necessary as it was considered so by the Church for thousands of years until Vatican II. I wouldn’t go by his opinion, continue to wear your veil and you’ll be fine!One more question-
I asked a priest about head coverings and he made it sound like it was a Spanish/Hispanic/Italian kind of cultural thing instead although he said it was a personal choice if I chose to do so. Not really supportive on the thought at all.
It made me feel like since I am neither of those that I was pretending to be from another culture? I’m getting conflicting thoughts here…
AMEN!! Covering is a personal sign/symbol between you and God, not to be dictated by any church or any person.

What is an OF and an EF parish?I haven’t had any reactions. I started and went through RCIA in an OF parish, so no headcoverings there. However, on Holy Thursday after Mass we had Adoration in the chapel, and I don’t know if the woman had had the veil on the whole Mass or not (it’s a very large parish) but she was certainly wearing one for Adoration!
But I attend a strictly EF parish now, and everyone veils. I haven’t been back to the OF since then, but I would certainly stick out like a bright green neon sign if I covered. Then again, some of the hairdos there would be more outrageous than my veil, so maybe I wouldn’t stick out so much
Went to my 1st Mass today. “traditional”. I would estimate that 30% of the women were “veiled”. It encompassed all age groups, young mothers to grandmothers.
OF= Ordinary Form (called Novus Ordo by some, it’s the mass in the vernacular that came into being due to Vatican II)
Between the Tridentine Mass and the Novus Ordo Mass? Quite a bit.
The Tridentine Mass (I usually call it the Traditional Latin Mass) is the Mass that officially began while Pius V was Pope, therefore why it is often called the Mass of Pius V. This Mass, however, actually has some of its roots dating back all the way to the first Apostles. It was celebrated for thousands of years. Then it was replaced by the Novus Ordo at Vatican II and was almost done away with. One faithful man, Archbishop LeFebvre (a future saint) remained with this beautiful Mass and refused to go along with what Vatican II and Paul VI were doing. He was heavily persecuted for remaining Traditional and was eventually ex-communicated by John Paul II for consecrating bishops to continue running the SSPX (Society of Saint Pius X) after his death.

I do have to agree some more modern priest don’t to see this. I for one would like to see this tradition come back, but I am not going to force it on anyone.
