Hi, I had missed the english mass at church this morning. There is another english mass at 7pm in thevening, but the weather reports that it will start snowing in the evening and this church is not that close. Would it be OK or is it a sin if I went to the mass at 230pm which is in arabic (I don’t understand it) , but there are mass books that’s translated into english.
Thank you!

It is perfectly fine to attend a Mass in a foreign language, with or without a translation altough having a translation is much better.

Until Vatican II, Mass was in Latin. Many did not use a Missle to follow in English. Today many Catholics travel the world and some live overseas. I have personally attended Mass in several different countries without any English.

The Mass is universal. It is the same all over the world so you will know where you are at, and being attentive to what you remember in English, you will feel like you are participating.

A Mass is a Mass. I’ve been to Mass in several churches and cathedrals in France and Germany, and it’s not that difficult to say the prayers in English. And there were handouts with the music. During the homily, I just enjoyed the most beautiful windows in the world!

it is never a sin to go to any Mass
no your obligation does not have to be met at a Mass in your own language. most of us should know the Mass well enough to follow along and make responses and prayers in our own language and we can read the readings before or after Mass. in severe weather emergencies as we have been having this week it is not a sin to miss Mass at all of weather prevents you getting there safely. In fact to go out when authorities have asked us not to could be a sin itself.
