Churches in Panama City Beach, FL?

Hello everyone,
My family and I are going on vacation in Panama City Beach, FL in late July, and I’m looking for a place to go to Mass. Are there any good, orthodox parishes within a few miles of the beach? Thanks, and God bless you all.

**I don’t know about how “orthodox” any of the parishes might be but you can always log in to: www.masstimes.org and find the city/parishes/mass times where you will be traveling. It’s a great website to have available. **

Thank you for your help. I had already checked out masstimes.org, and found two or three churches that looked promising, I was just wondering if anyone had any personal experience with any of the ones in the area.

I’m not familar with the parishes in PC.

I *can *vouch for Resurrection in Destin, about 35 miles west of Panama City. We are down that way often, and enjoy celebrating the Mass there.

The Church buidling is a bright, and uniquely designed, with beautiful outdoor stations of the cross.

After Mass I suggest the Donut Hole. Not a donut shop but full down home breakfast restaraunt with great foos. Very popular place.

The Parish is located on old U.S. 98, just a few miles west of Sandestin, look for the sign.

The Donut Hole is a few miles east of the church, you’ll see it on the way in.

I go to St. Bernadette’s when I’m in PCB, it’s right off of Thomas Dr.

Honestly, there is not much variation in style out here. You would probably have little to gain driving further than the beach, though maybe your tastes are such that it would pay off.

The only parish in PCB is St. Bernadette. It is probably as traditional as any church we have, though it may be just a touch sleepy in its stylings. If you cross the bridge you would first come to St. John, in the old St. Andrews area. It was very charismatic at one time, though seems to be much less so lately. People still do some odd things there though, like shout out prayer intentions from the pews. The Mass is reverent overall though, if a bit happy-clappy. St. Dominic is on the other side of town, and is the largest church here. Basically it is charismatic, but does offer more traditional Masses at certain times. The only other parishes are Our Lady of the Rosary, a small parish way out of town, and Ss. Peter and Paul which is Vietnamese.

The two churches here in town tend to be more traditional on Saturday evening, and both offer life-teen Masses on Sunday night. I don’t know of St. Bernadette falls into this kind of pattern, though it is very possible.

And the crucifix in the courtyard! It brought me to tears! I did the Stations there on Good Friday a few years back. Simply breathtaking. It’s as though one is actually standing at the foot of the cross.
