Could anyone please give me some church recommendations in Paris? I know Notre Dame offers TLM, but also for touristy beauty stuff, I’m sure there are some really pretty churches in Paris.

The 2 most incredible churches in Paris are Sacre Couer and Rue de Bac Chapel. Sacre Couer has had perpetual adoration for more than 90 years, if not 100 years.
Rue de Bac chapel is where Mary appeared to St. Catherine LaBoure and asked for the Miraculous Medal be made. You can see the exact chair that Mary sat in when she spoke to St. Catherine. Also, St. Catherine is the only saint to ever touch Mary. St vincent de Paul’s incorrupt heart is here also, as is St. Catherine’s incorrupt body.
I would skip Notre Dame and see both of these first.
St. Vincent de Paul’s church is not too far from Rue de Bac, within walking distance and has St. Vincent’s incorrupt body to see and pray before.
Look at Bob and Penny Lord’s web site for their Pilgrimage itinerarys and see where they go in Paris.
Have a wonderful trip. Paris is one of my favorite cities in the world.

Sainte Chapelle has absolutely fabulous stained glass.
It is on the Ile-de-la-cite. Not far from Notre Dame. It’s a little hard to find b/c it is inside a Gov’t compound, but well worth it.

Ste Germain des Pres-oldest chuch in Paris.
Daily mass 7PM. Rosary group in the Blessed Sacrament Chapel at 6:20 PM, they make you say it in French, and they love to ask visitors to lead a decade.
And to disagree with a previous poster, Rue du Bac and Sacre Coeur ARE beautiful, but do not miss (now) Cardinal Vingt-Trois’ Cathedral–Notre Dame de Paris. I pay St. Louis Island hotel prices twice a year, just to be close to Notre Dame. Daily Mass 8AM, 9AM, Noon, Sung Vespers 5:45 PM followed by mass 6:15PM. benediction Tuesday 5PM-5:30PM, Friday 12:30-1:30PM. Sunday Mass 6:30 Sat Vigil; 8:30 AM Lauds at 9:30 AM with Mass at 10 AM, 11:30 AM, 12:45 PM, Vespers 5:30PM with Mass at 6:30 PM.
Confessions daily 9:30Am to 6PM, including English.
English confessions are also almost always available at Rue du Bac and Sacre Coeur.
Daily Mass is in the choir area, which is all medieval wood carvings. Also don’t miss the facsimile of Nstra Sra de Guadalupe’s tilma in one of the chapels, and one of my favourites, in the North of the transept there are two statues of young French Girls juxtaposed: St. Jeanne d’Arc, and St. Therese de Liseux.

Churches in Paris???.. if i not mistaken my brother went to Paris and saw the churches there is empty, not much parishes. the French doesn’t like the churches anymore, they didn’t attend Mass anymore. the churches is occupied by tourist. the french started to walk away churches and begin their evil life and they start to attend mosque instead… no wonder they build their M so fast because people keep coming in…

Thanks for all the info. Jedi, there are probably enough faithful still left in France. Otherwise, they wouldn’t have 5 masses, plus Laudes and Vespers. The Church’s eldest daughter may not have as many children these days, but I hope they are faithful ones.

While I’ve never been, I would second St. Nicolas-du-Chardonnet. I know someone who has seen the Sistine Chapel, St. Peter’s, Notre Dame and almost every other famous Church in Europe you can think you. He still says St. Nicolas is his favorite Church and that he would rather go there than anywhere. After seeing the video above I find it hard to disagree.

Just remember, the Church has seen rough times in France before. 1789 and a little revolution come to mind. Also interesting to note is that the SSPX is quite large in France. I believe they have over 200 chapels.

that’s a very good news if SSPX really large in France. good to hear it. at least they still stick with Yesus Christu, the true God. i personally didn’t mind if the french go to SSPX. i really am. as long as they loved Yesus, the catholic church. is ok… if they are traitor and betrayed catholic church, then they are not good french. they are bad… Joan of Arc pray for us… pray for your own people… don’t let france fall into the wrong hand (the sword man hand)

I once read that there are some SSPX churches in France that have higher Mass attendance then entire dioceses.
The former French royal family supports the SSPX.

This wouldn’t suprise me in the least with the way a lot of Bishops are acting and running things in France. Everyone I’ve talked to whose been to France says the Society is doing wonderful, and the above wouldn’t suprise me in the least. Being of French ancestry myself, I’m glad to see that someone is holding on to the Faith in France.

We visited Notre Dame Paris and were a little disappointed but Notre Dame Chartre is the most fantastic example of medievil stained glass on the planet. Chartre is south of Paris and an easy drive or ride. The town is a winner too…just the right size and lots of charm.
