Hello All,
Hope the cold weather isn’t too bad for our northern friends.
My wife and I are coming up on our 20th wedding anniversary and we have booked an all inclusive trip to the Sandals, Royal Bahamian resort in the Bahamas. Not only is it our 20th anniversary but also a celebration of her coming into the church at the Easter Vigil… so we are going to have a great time I’m sure.
Now for my question… I have looked on the resort website and also on TripAdvisor and Masstimes.org but can’t seem to find out where the closest church and mass times are.
A few years ago we went to a Beaches resort in Turks & Caicos and a priest from a local parish there came on saturday night to have mass at 5pm. I wonder if Beaches has something similar?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Paul

Congratulations on your anniversary!

Not sure if this will help you:

I was guessing the resort you’re staying at is in Nassau. (I’ve never been there, but it sounds really nice! 🙂 )

Anyhow, there are different parishes listed here with e-mail addresses. Perhaps you can email one of them and find the closest church to where you’re staying. ??

Hope this helps you and I hope you have a wonderful trip. 🙂

I often find that when traveling abroad it is challenging to find Mass times online (and even if they are online, they are often unreliable, as the islands population fluctuates and the number of priests changes). I recommend calling the resort and asking, or asking when you get there. I’ve found this to work well for my family, and have had some wonderful experiences in churches in the Caribbean.

I stayed at that exact resort just over a year ago, and I got the mass times from the concierge desk. I took a taxi to mass, and it was really lovely. I’m sorry I don’t recall the name of the church, but it was 10 minutes by taxi at most. It might have been St. Francis Xavier? I remember it being a new church built beside an historic old church.

Thank you so much! I am going to email the resort today and see if they can send me some information.

Did you have a good time there? Any highlights that we should make a point of seeing or doing?

This will be the first time we have been on a vacation without children in 17 years!! 😃 Can’t wait!!

I recommend booking a supper at the restaurant that is out on the pier, it is really lovely (I forget the name of the restaurant)

I did not leave the resort except to go to mass 🙂 but I was only there for a few days. At first, I didn’t have any interest in going over to the private island, but went over there one day and spent some time lounging and enjoying the sun. After spending a couple days at the pool, with other people, it was a quieter spot to hang out. if you really want quiet, there are quiet spots on the island, sunny or shady.

What a lovely trip for you and your wife!

Thanks again. We had a good experience with this company. They also own the “Beaches” resorts, which is a families resort version of sandals. We went to the Beaches resort in the Turks and Caicos Islands for Thanksgiving of 2006 and it was an amazing time. The food the sun the snorkeling and the boat rides.
We had a fantastic time and I am so looking forward to spending some quiet time with my wonderful wife. I will check out the restaurant when we get there and make the reservations. I’m getting so excited and we still ahve about 8 weeks to go!!!

Thanks again,
Paul
