Well, I don’t think removing the terror-funding, murderous, “Hitler-lite” was a mistake. But for arguments sake, let’s say that Iraq was an “enormous mistake and immoral action”, as you put it-- wouldn’t that create more of a moral obligation to see Iraq through? I mean, if they are worse off and its our fault, wouldn’t leaving them in worse shape be greatly immoral?
I’m ready to jump on the “let’s get Iraq right” train but I have a few conditions. I will never get on the current “failure and lies” train. In order for me to board, the following conditions must be met:
  1. I want members of the administration to go on an apology tour throughout the US, Iraq and the world. They don’t have to say these exact words, but you get the idea. I want to hear them say, “We were all wrong and we are sorry”
  2. I want members of the administration to go to various world communities and beg for help; not this “we asked them for help and they said no” stuff while they were sneering and making fun of the other countries on the side. I want them begging. On their knees if they have to. I have every confidence that we would receive help (bodies) and take the target off the backs of Americans. However, the rest of the world is now laughing at us and letting us stew in our own juices. Can you really blame them?
Once my conditions have been met, I am on the train. Raise my taxes and I’ll even shut up. However, I refuse to support failed policies when no lesson is learned. Because when you do that, you simply encourage future members of the leadership to commit the same mistakes. They are called consequences and I want to see them.

I disagree, but I can respect that opinion. I enjoy good intellectual dialogue. 👍

I think you are way off base here.

“I enjoy good intellectual dialogue.” :hmmm: Hmmm. I guess I must have missed that part of the statement.

We will be there for a long while. We are in the process of constructing at least 4 mega-bases. While the number of troops will be reduced, we will unfortunately maintain a military presence there for the forseeable future.
Excellent! We should keep a large prescence there at least as long as we’ve stayed in Japan and Germany.

What were they wrong about?

Nations were asked to be apart of the Coalition. Many joined. Others, some of who were on Saddam’s payroll via the Useless Nation’s oil-for-fraud scam refused.
However, the rest of the world is now laughing at us and letting us stew in our own juices.
They are? Your evidence of this is?

A well articulated opinion that has very little basis in fact behind it.

I don’t know if people realize this, but the current coalition is one of the largest coalition ever formed in world history.

As of October 15, 2004, 28 non-U.S. military forces are
contributing to the ongoing stability operations throughout Iraq.
These countries are Albania, Australia, Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Dominican Rep, El Salvador, Estonia, Georgia, Honduras, Hungary, Italy, Japan, Kazakhstan, South Korea, Latvia, Lithuania, Macedonia, Moldova, Mongolia, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, , United Kingdom, and Ukraine.

I am someone who is well-read and follows the news carefully so I will not accept this bit of spin. George Bush Sr. and Colin Powell assembled nearly 500,000 “forces” to push Saddam out of Kuwait - teeny, tiny, little Kuwait. I remember when Bush Sr. actually went to various countries soliciting support; they formed a true coalition.

The “coalition” currently in Iraq is largely a sham. You cannot get around the fact that other than Blair, Bush, and Aznan there was no real support for an invasion at this time. Add to that the fact that our own officials and representatives were insulting nations who didn’t agree with them. They were arrogant and obnoxious and are directly responsible for many, many deaths.

As I said previously, one of my conditions for support at this point is “begging” not “asking.” We’ve gone way beyond the asking point.

So we are back to the whole Poland and the other eastern European nations don’t count thing?

It seems we are getting a bit far from the Cindy Sheehan thing here. Cindy Sheehan is a woman that is greiving for her son, and someone in desperate need of grief councelling. She is pushing away her family at a time when they all need one another, and if you listen to all of her comments, not just the ones chosen by CNN to reinforce the “concerned mother” appearance, she has, in her greif started to rant more and more about any conspiracy theory that crosses her mind. This is not the rational, measured leader of a movement, but a woman that needs help.

She is God’s child and she needs our prayers, and I don’t blame her. But I do blame a large number of oppourtunistic groups that have swarmed on this woman and used her as their “face” to put their ugly agenda out there. These are the people that really need to examine what they are doing and why, though I suspect that many of them could care less about Cindy Sheehan and her grief, as long as they get their face time.

By the way, Archbishop Gregory didn’t hesitate to call the United States an “occupying power.”

Archbishop Gregory is our Archbishop…ahhhh you want to trade?

🙂 No thanks…we just got a New Bishop and he is Rock Solid! 👍

Steve O'Brien:
Is the Catholic Church a “puppet of the left”? After all, she officially teaches the following in her new catechism:

***"The fifth commandment forbids the intentional destruction of human life. ***
The fifth commandment forbids murder. Just War is not murder.

South Korea has the third largest contingent there.

I agree with most of what you wrote, but I am most concerned about the fact that she needs counseling and not antiwar activities. When you lose a child at any age your marriage in in jeapordy and every counselor knows that. They could have helped her. Instead we hear she is facing divorce. The left could care less about individuals. They want entitlements and grand standing that will hurt the corservative movement, and especially President Bush. I think Cindy Sheehan has been ultimately abused by the leftists (all of the groups that are funding her now).

Tell me how they have helped her in any respect.

Well… while Cindy,( self appionted **Victim **) is getting so much press… Just **HOW ** does this friutcake by pass her own influence or lack there of, in her sons formation? Scuse me… her kid was 25…he volunteered! Hello!!!
If she wants to defame someone…She should start with her own stupid DEAD KID! ( not to say he is stupid…but let us GET real. Her kid volunteered!!! So Cindy FAILED ACCORDING TO HER OWN MESSAGE.
