So I saw a thread a while ago, and I was wondering, it seemed like the Church was against citizens using arms against the state because it would cause more evil than it solves. I’m not really sure, maybe someone could find it for me, but I was thinking, what if people lived under a tyrannical government? Was it moral for the Jews to fight the Nazis? Or the Kurds to fight Saddam Hussein? Was it moral or immoral? Could it be considered self defense? What if your country is invaded? If an invading army marched into your town, would it be wrong to fight them?

The church is not opposed to just wars. I would fight if an army was invading my hometown, over here there are many priests who were Marines…so they just might be fighting right beside me.

What about rising up against tyranny, like Hitler or Saddam Hussein?
