Civil Marriage: Blessed Marriage

My husband is a lapsed Catholic. I am converting. Assuming that all other obstacles are overcome (annulment for me, etc.) What is required for a marriage to be blessed and is that a prerequisite to taking communion?

Given your circumstances, if an annulment is granted, then you both will need to renew your consent to marriage in what canon law calls a “convalidation,” also referred to as “having a marriage blessed in the Church.”
