It’s the autumn again - so I get out my classical. Great accompaniment to wind, rain on window panes, leaves on the ground everywhere.

Bach - Cello Suites, Mass in B Minor
Handel - anything - Cello Concertos, Water Music
Beethoven - String Quartets

Whatever the classical music radio station is playing…

I heard a Beethoven symphony (can’t remember which one) on the radio and got very excited because it sounded like a different interpretation, unlike any I had heard before, and a beautiful one. It was performed by the Tonhalle Orchestra Zurich, conducted by David Zinman. Based on that, I eventually purchased their 5-CD set of all 9 Beethoven Symphonies (got it secondhand, pretty cheap) and I love it. I should warn you, they play it fast, and some listeners may not like that.

I listen to All Classical Portland quite often; it’s a very good classical station. Classical music fans might want to bookmark it.🤷

Their pipe organ program is especially great.

Beethoven - Symphony No. 5

Chopin’s Nocturnes, played by Ivan Moravec. He plays beautifully but the recording itself has some ‘issues’ as they say.
