Cleaning a pyx with soap

Hello. I have a pyx that needs to be cleaned with soap and water. What is the proper, respectful way to accomplish this? Can this be done in a sacrarium? Does it have to be? Please advise.

I have been advised to first rinse with water and pour the water into a flower pot or into nature (if I don’t have access to a sacrarium). Then clean with soap and water.

I’d check with your priest just to be sure but I think if your church has a sacrarium I would use that to clean it.
