Cleaning Home Holy Water Fonts?

Hi, all! I’m just wondering if anyone has any tips for cleaning home holy water fonts. Mine seem to have a buildup of calcium (crusty white flakes and powder) and grime/mold that does not clean-off easily. One font is good ceramic, one is rather cheap plastic, and one is higher-grade molded plastic.

Thanks for any advice you can provide on cleaning solutions/implements!

let some white vinegar soak in them for awhile. the acidity will remove the mineral build up and kill any mold.

a bit off topic - my Holy Water font is so small and my apartment is super hot when I am not home - up to 94F. The Holy Water evaporates into the air faster than stays on my finger.
 
if it looks dishwasher safe, run it through in the top rack
but not plastic or hand painted
the white vinegar trick should work
to keep it from happening again, add a pinch of ordinary table salt to your bottle of holy water when you get it.

Well, I decided to try the vinegar first, as I am always nervous about spilling bleach, and it worked very well. I let them soak for three hours, brushed them lightly with a cheap toothbrush, rinsed them in water, rehung and refilled them. Easy as could be!

That’s a great idea; I’ve just added a pinch of salt to my remaining bottle of holy water!

Having lived in Arizona, I’ve had the same problem. I ended-up not using a font at all, but just leaving a bottle on my nightstand and tipping drops onto my finger. I never did figure-out another way to handle evaporation like that.
